I was wondering if any of you crafty members have come up with a solution to dust getting into the speedo. I have owned my truck for 6 months and have noticed mosquitoes and dust adding up. I thought I would just plug it with some silicone but might wait to see what you guys have done to remedy the problem. Thanks.
 
You can take it apart and clean it out. I have to do that on my Jeep every couple years cause it gets pretty dirtty.
 
I notice dust by the trip reset pin... the opening around it has dust on the bottom of mine... 'suposed to be able to remove the clear face but haven't done it yet... .



for the solution, how about a small O-ring that will fit on the shaft then have it snug up to the glass to close it off? seems like that would work...
 
I know on Jeep TJs (Wranglers) the reset has a rubber boot that seals it. I wonder if a person would be able to get one of the little boots and it would fit? Something to try anyhow.
 
On a '95 to get the dash front off:

  • Pull the cup holder completely out (pull it out to the stop, push down a little and pull it all the way out)
  • Pull the ash tray completely out (same as the cup holder)
  • Remove the 2 screws holding the cup holder bracket in and remove the bracket
  • Remove the 2 screws holding the ash tray bracket and remove the bracket
  • Tilt the wheel all the way down
  • Grab the top "lip" of the dash front panel and pull it away from the dash body (It's just held on with little "clips")
  • Reach behind the panel and unplug the lighter wire and the power plug wire and lay the dash panel aside.
  • With a magnetic screw driver, remove the gold colored screws from around the instrument panel (seems like there is 6 of them, not sure)
  • Remove the clear lens



Don't use Windex or paper towels. A good plastic polish and an old cloth diaper work well. :cool:
