I don't buy that logic at all. If the filter minder won't trigger with a filter that is ready to implode, what's the point of having one? That's the same as saying "don't rely on you smoke detector to tell you that you don't have a fire, go check to be sure". Needlessly checking air filters introduces the possibility of contaminating the system- you're best off to leave it alone and go by the indicator.

I believe it. For people who are light footed, it may be possible to load that air cleaner up in extra dirty conditions without the indicator showing much. Then someone else gets behind the wheel and nails it...

The article is basically warning you that in rare cases, this could cause a problem.

I believe it. . The minder in my 05' dodge would often partialy trigger after a new filter was installed. . My 97' ford's filter had to be in horrible shape for the minder to ever get partial on it. . I have seen various results on equipment, trucks etc; over the years, therefore i do not trust a minder on anything. .

My filter minder has never moved in 90k miles. Years ago I tried running an air filter until it registered on the minder. After 27k miles with no movement I pulled the air filter only to find it was dirty on the dirty side AND the clean side.

Never again. I change at 15k miles.

Try putting the go pedal to the floor till you hit 80mph from a standing start.

Actually, nail it hard and get the boost way high.

I doubt rbattel has enough fuel to need more than what the stock filter has to offer with out moving the minder.

I'm thinking most with power mods don't bother with that minder anyway since it's always fully set LOL

You had either a defective or improperly installed element. Paper filters become more effective at filtering as they get dirty. A really effective filter minder would set a CEL or have a visible warning in the vehicle as is done on a lot of construction equipment.

No Dtc's will be set for restricted air filter till the 6. 7

When a paper filter gets severely restricted it collapses

and will bypass! This noally happens after ingestion of snow

Less likely but possible in heavy rain storms or deep water
