Far as I know, the change time is supposedly calculated by the computer using driving habits and the viscosity sensor in the engine. All new engines have sensors like this...

actual hours rated from cummins, i dunno. .

FWIW, My first change came due at 5085 miles and 125 engine hours. This was just after returning from an 1800 mile round trip pulling my camper, which probably speeded up the process a little bit.

Why do you think it has a viscosity sensor? This is the first I've read of that. All the TDR articles I've seen so far indicate the computer guesses at the viscosity based on engine driving characteristics, regens, etc.
