Hello all.

How long does the steering stabilizer last?

My truck has 33K, and I've begun to notice some clunking (I can feel it through the wheel) when turning, braking and braking while turning.

Is this a worn stabilizer, or something else?

Thanks.

Dave

The OEM steering stabilizers don't seem to hold up very long.

The noise could be something else, but the list is quite long. I'd get under there and check all steering joints while your at it.

When the stabilizer starts to go you can get a shimmy after hitting a bump that is hard to control or drifting while driving straight. My stock stabilizers were shot under 20k. Good news that almost any aftermarket stabilizer will last longer than OEM and aren't very expensive. Heckethorn for $35 worked for me.
