Well in my ongoing trial to solve a grinding noins with my dyna Lock hubs on my 2003 2500 the latest "Fix" was that dyna trac shipped me two bushings which were omitted from the first Kit. Well the install went fine and this corrected the pass. side but the drivers side still makes the noise. My call to Robert at Dyna Trac has not been returned yet.

I have a favor to ask of all that have installed these hubs. Will you please go out and lock (engage) the hubs and drive the truck in 2 TWO wheel drive and see if you hear any grinding noise.

I only want to do this (engage the hubs in 2 wheel) to rotate the front dif and circulate the gear oil from time to time. I know I can accomplish the same thing by shifting the transfer to 4 high with the hubs unlocked.

My concern is if the hubs wont fully engage and hold the axle in two wheel then will they do it (engage) in four wheel.

Again, the only time I hear the oinse is with the hubs locked and the transfer in 2 wheel drive. If the transfer is engaged the noise goes away.

The Crown cams were getting chewed up on the ID and Robert said he was aware of that issue and sent me new Crown cams.

Monday I plan to take the drivers side hub down and check things out.

Again please let me know of any of you have the noise.

Thank you

Help me out with something here, why all the concern about circulating oil?. If it's an issue why not just put the thing in four wheel drive and simply drive in a straight line?. By driving in a straight line there's no chance of T case binding due to the wheels not being able to "break loose".

I've got over 110,000 on my hubs never had any issues with any grinding noises. I've done both locking just the hubs and driven in two wheel and engauged the transfercase in 4 wheel to excersize the moving parts and sling some oil around. The hub kits just work as they should. If your kits were missing a bushing then maybe you've done damage to the locking mec and it needs to be replaced?

Thanks guys and keep them comming. My only concern is if the hub doesn't engage properly as I describe how can I be sure it will engage properly when the going gets rough. I'm just looking for feed back.

Since I use 4wd daily (15% gravel road with a 75* turn from my house to the paved road), I keep the hubs locked most of the time unless I'm gonna be on the road for a while. No issues at all, but I only have a few thousand miles on the system.

What most don't realize is that there is still enough "drag" that the front components still rotate (albeit real slow) even when the hubs are unlocked... enough to keep things lubricated.

I don't even lock my hubs in during the summer months, unless I absolutely need 4wd.

One thing you might try when you engage the hubs is reach in and rotate the drive shaft back and forth and verify that the hubs engage. I usually do this on my '03 with the Warn hubs, that way you know they're engaged.

Yes, this is what I'm speaking of. 2wd with hubs locked. I do it a lot. And, if I where going to a situation where I thought there'd be the less chance I needed 4wd, I'll lock the hubs.

Did you check to me sure the axle stub shaft isn't rubbing the end of the axle tube? If the thrush plate isn't in, the stub shaft will be too far inboard and rub the end of the axle tub.

The saga continues. The latest thing Dyna Trac had me do was install some brass bushings to support the locks(inner and outer). This done the pass side works as it should but the driver side still will not engage properly unless you rock the wheel back and fourth while it is on a jack stand. The growling noise I hear is the locks not engaging. once they engage the noise stops and the shaft turns as it should.

Dyna Trac has been very helpsull in trying to solve this problem and is now going to ship me all the inner parts new, the wave spring the two locks and a new bushing so we will see how that goes.

I don't think you should have to rock the wheel or truck back and fourth to get the hub to engage, you don't have to do this on the pass side. I should know more in about a week.

You shouldn't, but you can do the same thing by turning the driveshaft. Engage the hub that is OK first, then the second, then rotate the DS back and forth until the second hub engages.

Agreed, never did really understand why peeps were into this oil circ thing.
