DYNO get together in PA

Mason Dixon Chapter Holiday Get Together

Just wanted to see if anyone was interested in hitting the dyno Dec 4 and/or 5th? The dyno is located in Bradford, PA. It's a Superflow dyno, which is a load dyno. We can load the trucks down to simulate real world conditions. It's pretty sweet. There's no excuses on this one.

We can also record large amount of data. Hp, torque, rpm, boost psi, egt, or about anything else that has an easy hook up.

The dyno shop is perfect for us. Any size truck will fit, dually, crew cab, etc. There is also plenty of parking and lots of room for guys with trailers. There is also lots of room for spectators too. There is also plenty of room in the dyno shop for everyone there, so no one will be stuck outside in the cold. (well, unless you want to be out there with the black smoke ) There are several hotels with in about two miles too for the out of town guys.

I'm hoping to have 10 trucks or so turnout for this first one, but the more the merrier. The cost to dyno is $75. I realize this is short notice, but I wanted to dyno my truck again and thought I would see if anyone else would be interested in joining.

So, is there anyone interested? We can work out all the fine details like time and such things when we have a fair idea of the amount of trucks coming.

Thanks.

JB. .

Hmmmm,

Maybe I will not have to run to NC then and will come up there. Sunday would work better for me,just keep me informed... ..... Andy

Question. .

Knowing Bradfords weather history do ya think a set of snow shoes and maybe a mukluk would be in order????.

Hammer, it's snowing right now. LOL I'm not sure what the weather will be next weekend yet, but hopefully it will be nice.

Is there anyone else hear with a mean Dodge that wants to come up? I'd really like to see a big hp Cummins on this dyno.

Well, I think I may have rounded us up some meat for a nice lunch cookout. I also have convinced my wife to make some of her super duper specialty desert too. (Hammer and Sled Puller have to some now)

Here are links to a couple of hotels:

Comfort Inn

Best Western

Those are about the only two chain hotels. There is one non-chain hotel here if anyone is interested. It's a nice, clean place. I'm pretty sure it's a bit cheaper too. The Desoto Holiday House is the name and the number is 814-362-4511. All three are within two miles of the dyno shop.

Another point of interest is that the Zippo Lighter/Case Knife Museum is about a stones throw from both of those hotels.

i don't have a "mean" truck by any measure

but i'll definitely be there if it'll get the boost up on my Hx-55 ... 490 at low boost ... i've gotta get 500 or i'm gonna :{

please post directions and date ... i'm there

Hey Thats cool we'll be up in Potter County that weekend. Sunday will be better for us becuase we are hunting Saturday. But on our way home would be glad to stop by and spin the rollers and see if load will give us some more un-taped power. Keep Me posted on directions and when. Thanks

Cody

I'm still looking for a truck :( , but I'd love to come over and meet some of you guys. Who has the dyno in Bradford, Johnboy? You happen to be from Smethport?

Dyno

Well guys it looks like we'll do all the dynoing Saturday. I count 4 trucks from this site that have committed. There are a few Fords from the other site coming and a half dozen local guys. We'll get things started at 9 AM and go until everyone has had their turn. The price will be $75 per truck. Trust me, you'll get your money's worth. They have set up a couple of remote monitors so everyone will be able to watch the horsepower numbers come up. If anyone wants to record your boost pressure along with your dyno data, you will need to have a 1/8 inch fitting somewhere that we can attach a sensor to. They can also record your egts if you have a type K thermocouple. Just make sure it is unhooked before you run so they can hook there wires right up to it.

I need anyone who is coming that is running stacks to send me a private message. We need to work something out to get your exhaust out of the building. They don't really want the ceiling of their new building blackened, LOL. If you just send me a message about exactly what you stack setup is, I'll make sure I have the connections on hand to make your truck work. Thanks.

We have gathered up some stuff for lunch. We will have some beef on wick, beans, and anything anyone cares to bring. My beautiful and enchanting wife is making her world famous strawberry desert too.

As for directions:

If you are coming from the north-

Take 219 South to Bradford. The four lanes will close to two lanes. If you continue South on 219 you will come to Custer City about a mile and a half from that point. There is a blinker light at a four way intersection. You will turn left there onto East Warren Road. At this intersection there is a closed BP station and a Taste Freeze. Go down the East Warren Road for about 500 ft and you will see a sign for NBS Trucking. Turn in there and stay to the right of the first row of buildings. The dyno shop is in the second row of buildings.

If you are going from the south-

Follow 219 North towards Bradford. When you are getting close to Bradford you come to a small village of Lewis Run. There is a Sunoco Station along 219. From there it's about 2 miles to Custer City. There you will come to a blinker light at a four way intersection. There is a closed BP station and a Tastee Freeze at this intersection. You will need to turn right at that intersection onto East Warren Road. Go down the East Warren Road for about 500 ft and you will see a sign for NBS Trucking. Turn in there and stay to the right of the first row of buildings. The dyno shop is in the second row of buildings.

I will place signs out along 219 at the turn and at the second turn into the dyno shop. It's pretty easy to find. I doubt anyone will have any trouble. If anyone gets lost or needs some info, feel free to call me at 814-598-9167.

Is there anyone else from this site planning on coming? I'd just like to have a ruff idea about how many folks are coming.

2broke, it will definately put a load on your truck. I believe this the best dyno out there for testing diesels, especially big chargered trucks.

Cumminsdieselboy, we were going to try to do everything Saturday. I hear the deer only work till noon on Saturdays, so perhaps you could come later on in the day? :D If not, perhaps they would dyno you Sunday. I can check. Where in Potter County are you staying? I can give you the shortest directions if I know where you're staying.

Big Easy, come on over! TF Racing has the dyno. You've probably seen stuff in the local papers about the Zippo Mustangs. It's their shop that the dyno is in. I am from Smethport. Heck, we might even know each other.

BTW, everyone who wants to run can on this dyno. Duallys, crewcabs, whatever. Everything big, small, long, or short will fit with no problem.

we are stayin in Shinglehouse near Coudersport on Route 44. we will have to see. Dont know if we can do it or not but we might make it there. So if we dont make it we'll just have to wait till the next time you have it. So everyone who is going good luck.

Cody

And to think Gene wonders why people think he's a dick.

Cody, I hope you guys can make it. Any luck with the deer? The hunters took a couple of nice bucks out of where I was working today. A 10 point and an 8.

Hmmmm...

I doubt I will not make this one now at all. I have to work Friday nites and do not get back from my nightly run till 8am Saturday Mornings. I figure its a 4hr trip for me and IF I get in on time I wouldn't make it till after lunch time. I can not get off as we have too many guys of this week for chasing Bambi around... ... ... ... ... ... Andy

Well we dont live up there. my grandfather lives up there and we are going up friday night and were gonna hunt sat. We live down in Pottstown. there were about 9 people up the road from my grandfathers from New Jersey and out of those 9, they only got one deer which was a 4-5 point. so the deer are slim pickins up there. Luckily i am turnin 16 here in 6 days so i have a Juniors license. So if i see a Buck i shoot, i aint gotta count. But i dont have a doe license but my dad does. Hope to be there too but no gauranttes(however you spell it).

Hey Johnboy he is just mad cause your married to Pam Anderson,I would come up but truck is torn all apart, building new motor to kick Gene's butt. I might ride up with Gene if he thinks his truck will make it. :-laf

Thanks Johnboy!

had a great, although brief, time ...

" 503 hp ... 505 hp ... whoops sorry couldn't print them ... try again ... 493 hp ... we'll print that one" :D :D

it was a GREAT shop ran by great folks

5 hours up ... . stay 1/2 hour ... 5 hours back just in time to pick up my daughter from basketball camp ...

doesn't get any better than that :-laf

how did your big white fire-breathing 'stroke do?

Rex

Rex, I'm glad you made the trip. I was pretty excited to see the 500 come up on the screen during your run. What a bummer they lost those two runs before saving them. After looking at your data sheet tonight, I'm thinking they should have started your run a bit lower in the rpm range. The data I have in front of me doesn't start till 2050 rpm. I bet you'd make an *** load more torque a couple hundred rpm lower. Definately a great running truck. Thanks for coming up.

My truck on the other hand... just after you left it finally warmed up and started running smoother. Then on the second run it blew the turbo piping apart yet again. So that was the end of my fun for the day. It sounded really good at the beginning of that run too. Bummer.

Here are the results for the day:

Jim Woolley - Ford - 268. 1 / 638. 7

Gar Harnson - Ford - 283. 7 / 586

Rex Bound - Dodge - 493. 8 / 956. 2

Matt Dart - Ford - 326. 4 / 754. 8

Sledpuller - Dodge - 410. 5 / 964. 6

Johnboy - Ford - 325. 8 / 622. 3

Richard Stedman - Ford - 256. 1 / 626. 8

Thanks to everyone who attended today.
