Now it sounds like your in need of a new turbo:D

HMMMmmm - not to rain on your parade, but I would have expected a bit higher numbers - I sorta figured to end up with what you have in power-adders, and was shooting for around 400 HP and 800 torque - you can see in my sig what I now have with ONLY the Comp - thought the DDII's and bigger exhaust would do more...

No offense intended - just curious...

TnL,

Is your truck an auto or stick, and if it's a stick, is it a H. O. ?

I agree with Gary, i would have expected slightly higher numbers (and i'm not trying to rain on your parade either :) ). I wonder if it's possible that your slipping your transmission or clutch?

If your truck is a HO, i would have definitely expected higher numbers on just injectors.

I had dynoed a while back with the exact same mods as you now have.

Later,

Chris

I made 4 pulls on a Dynojet yesterday - EZ with DD2's (see signature). The first two pulls were in 5th gear; the second two were in 6th gear.

#1 - 329. 0 BHP - 650. 3 lb-ft torque

#2 - 331. 6 BHP - 650. 8 lb-ft torque

#3 - 346. 8 BHP - 746. 3 lb-ft torque

#4 - 347. 2 BHP - 761. 7 lb-ft torque

The variance in torque between runs #3 and #4 are due to starting run #3 at 1950 RPM (I wasn't watching the tach closely enough :( ) and run #4 at 1750 RPM (still too high!) The next time I run, I'll start at 1500 RPM.

It's pretty apparent from the higher BHP and torque results in 6th gear that the 4. 10 gears are probably hurting my dyno results. With this gearing, the engine runs through the RPM band so fast that engine rotational inertia comes into play, and less time is available for turbo spoolup.

Rusty

Gary your numbers don't count your using the West Coast correction Factor:-laf .

Just kidding, actually I thought my numbers would be a bit higher too, but I think I need more fuel. Next upgrade is a Fass. . so I have good Fp on 5x5 as I was only seeing about 1psi WOT.

George I think Im gonna get me a hx 35 for now... .

Hmm. Yeah, i didn't notice that you were running a stock filter and air box. I never dynoed with stock airbox, but for the short time i ran one with the comp and dd2's, i was running out of air in a major way. FilterMinder would pull all the way down any time i got on it. My egt's were out of control, as in 1500 + before i could reach 60mph. I switched to the megacannon and barely hit 1500 at the end of the quarter mile which was 96mph at the time.

Changing your filter should help you out a lot in egt's, not so sure what it will do for you on the dyno, but should help some.

When i had DD2's, Standard Comp, Mega-cannon and 4inch exhaust i did 269/534 on just injectors and 414/880 with the comp on 5x5. When i added the 40, i did 272/532 on injectors. Never dynoed a standard comp with the 40 since the drag comp went on at the same time.

Of course the other variable that cannot be forgotten is we weren't on the same dyno on the same day.

Chris

BTW, the only number that i thought was significantly lower than i would expect is your tq # with comp on 5x5. that's why i thought maybe your transmission was slipping.

"When i had DD2's, Standard Comp, Mega-cannon and 4inch exhaust i did..... 414/880 with the comp on 5x5. "

Now those are more like the numbers I will be looking for with similar mods... ;) :)

Well I will try again when I get the fuel system up to snuff, as I am sure pulling down to 1psi isn't all that good when searching for the big numbers

Hmm I was also looking at some other dyno threads, and notice that most dyno numbers tend to me higher in OD. This run was done with OD locked out. We will see I will be dynoing again sometime in the near future at Mike Dez Racing in Ma.

That's why I posted my numbers. 6th gear was about 16 BHP and 110 lb-ft torque better than 5th on an inertial (Dynojet) dyno.

Rusty

Tnl - keep in mind Rusty's truck has 4. 10 rearend gears - so his truck in OD *might* not be far off yours in direct, if you have 3. 55 gears...

Normally, dyno runs are made in direct 1:1 for best accuracy and comparison factors...

I think that would make a difference. If you dynoed in 3rd, those are probably pretty good numbers. I think going to o/d will show higher numbers still.

Chris

Well lessee now, maybe we're onto something here - instead of spending money on power adders to get better dyno numbers, we can instead add overdrives, 2-speed axles and oversize tires to get higher numbers - and save on overstressing the engine... ;) :p
