I dont really know if this has been asked before, but are the manufacturers claims really accurate when they give us thier Dyno readings? For instance the EZ is supposed to give us 65 horsepower more according to thier claims. However, dyno testing from some of our members seem to provide less. I do understand the difference between flywheel horsepower and RWHP. As you know dd,tst and banks claim big performance gains from there products. Are they really giving us our moneys worth or are we spending money for nothing? Do they always tell us the truth? Just want to make sure when I bomb I get my moneys worth? Thanks for your replies... . ;)

Well each dyno is different and subject to operator error or style. When they tell you the EZ gives you 65hp... . then on their dyno then yes it does... however this hp is down in the lower RPMs... ... it adds roughly 35 to 40hp at the peak. Same with the VA.

When I had my PowerEdge, it was verified on a dyno... . 50, 80, 100hp in the three levels..... which is what I was told it would do. The DDIII's are supposed to add 100hp I think, on a dyno I gained 95hp roughly. Haven't been on the dyno since putting on my COMP box, but according to the dragstrip mph its. . over 400hp. Now I have my hood... so I hope its gonna give me some more ooomph in the mph dept. Now going to look at different turbos... ... I love my Piers Turbo, but looking for some more topend.

The best way to check things is get a baseline... . then go back and test after ya ad some power. But most companies are truthful in their claims..... ecspecially DD and Edge. These two I have their products and have verified them.

Um your in Las Vegas... ..... I would consider DD for your BOMB's. . and Edge is over in utah . I'm jealous :D I wish I were closer to them... ... ..... Might try to schedule an appointment with them before May Madness next year... ... ... ... ... ...

It also depends on the truck itself. No two trucks seem to be identical. In big groups on the dyno,I have seen basslines readings all over the place. Usually a manufacturer will make sure their test truck is properly tuned and within specs in every department.

I suspect that DD and Edge are probably pretty realistic, but am suspect of Banks claims just because they have been somewhat controversial on the TDR, plus their products are spendy, and I think you can get more bang for the buck elsewhere.

My EZ went on first..... big smiles. Coudn't believe you could realize that much improvement from a $500 little box.

DD2's went on later... . even bigger smiles. These injectors are amazing.

For me, I relied more on the "testimonials" of the TDR after reading a lot of posts in the archives rather than the claims of manufacturers. I'll bet you won't find anyone who says EZ and DD additions were a disappointment, or that their customer service after the sale was shakey.

Take your time. Drive other bombed trucks if you can (jeez, I just noticed you live in Vegas..... get yourself over to DD and drive someones truck). Bombing is addictive and gets extra expensive when you start stepping up to bigger boxes, injectors, etc.

Good luck..... this is just too much fun.

I kind of look at the HP ratings with a grain of salt. The best way is to actually see a dyno print out. The highest peak HP is not always the best nor fastest. You generally want your power to come on as soon as possbile in the rpm range, then stay there throughout your driveable range. I can attest to the amount of umff produced by the PE Comp box, and if it doesnt hit the hp ratings that is says it can, who cares. It makes the truck a lot nicer to drive all around. I think that is what is key. Having the highest HP truck at the dyno, doesnt mean you have the "fastest" truck. HP is just a derivative of weight, time, & distance anyways. :p

You will not be disappointed by the amount of power you will get from any of those boxes or injectors. I mean, what other vehicle can you buy and double the hp output with a simple minor addt-ons. Gasers take major amounts of engine work to even get around to where these cummins can go. Then of course they can never match the torque no matter what they do, just the nature of a higher reving engine.

All that to say, just research what people are using & how much they like them, pros & cons. That is what I did. I didnt know much about the cummins & what it could do, until I found this site & all the culmitive wealth of knowledge that transpires here. I can't believe I drove a year and half on my 99 completely stock!

Most of these manufactures will let u return their products if you are not satisfied with their performance.

Have fun & let the bombing begin!! Just don't wait to long like i did! I can just kick myself :D
