Truck/Site FAQ down???

Steve,

Isn't there away that we can make a Dyno Results tab? Whether it be separate tab or part of the discussion forums. Many members like myself have inquiries as to what stock and modified trucks produce, if for nothing else a ballpark figure for where we could end up, as every truck varies to some degree.

My idea is to separate the dyno results:

1st gen 12 valve

2nd gen 12v

2nd gen 24v ETH

2nd gen 24v ETC

3rd gen ETH

3rd gen ETC.

Members would post both their HP and TQ results and what mods were used to produce their numbers.

The idea is for a place to go a view these numbers without having to go to the forums and always asking what members got or to a search and not finding what your looking for. We can all look for ourselves if we can post them in their own place on the TDR. I also think it should be members only access.

My thoughts but, I believe many members would benefit from this.

FWIW I would like to see something along this line- I get too many threads jumbled up and can't keep mods/results straight.

I'll discuss it with Robin. My personal opinion on it is that it won't be very useful. The problem is that IMO there is no way to compare one dyno run to another unless they were done on the same dyno on the same day by the same operator. Take me for example, I've dyno'd on 3 different mustang 1000 dyno's with 3 different operators and gotten DRASTICALLY different results. I dyno'd with an original powermax and 275hp injectors and dyno'd at 313/763 and I was running 17. 3's in the 1/4 mile at that time. I then changed to a Powermax3 and my 1/4 mile times went down to 15. 9's but dyno'd on a different Mustang 1000 at 309/680. So with a discrepancy like this on the same truck, same style of dyno, on 2 different days with 2 different operators - how can we expect to compare zillions of different trucks on multiple brands of dyno's, different operators, etc, etc. I can see the battles now - Mustang vs Dynojet, I have the same modifications as X but I'm dynoing 100hp less, etc, etc. Give me your input on this and I will discuss it with Robin.

Steve, I realize there would be huge differences in some instances. Some because of different trucks, some because of different dyno's etc. But in my opinion, it would still be useful, because like any other info, you can ignore the extremes, and look at the majority to see where you would most likely be. Would also be a neat way of seeing what is the most consistent, dynojets or mustang, etc.

Just my opinion.

BTW, i've only dynoed twice. Both times were on dynojets. Once in muncie at 408 and 866, then in PA at Kauffman's dynoed 414 and 880. only change to the truck was added 4" exhaust before Pa. Pretty consistent i think.

Steve,

I wasn't looking for this to become a war room. But rather just a post board where members can post their results from a given dyno on a given day. I wasn't looking for anything cosmic on this but a post only and no replies, this would alleviate your concern with dyno type wars, as members can post results but no feedback is needed in this type board as long as truck type and mods are listed.

This is just info for members so they won't have to search other forums and hope to find the info they are looking for. I think it would be usefull, as you search through look at the posts looking for dyno results. Quite a few.

I agree with what C-Hawk said, "I realize there would be huge differences in some instances. Let the members weed out the numbers and validity of said results. We are just looking for a area to go and get a "ROUGH" idea of what we "MIGHT" put out with our like truck and mods.

Ah. *This* could be a different story. If the results are stored and indexed by accessory, then one could pull up the query page, specify the accessories considered, and receive the average, median, minimum, maximum and standard deviation of all entries found in the database. This would avoid the HP Dyno Wars, yet provide some possibly meaningful data for a person considering certain modifications.

But, given the nearly infinite possible combinations of mods, the statistical portion might not exist... .

One possible way to set it up, would be to have different sections for the different trucks, i. e. 12v, 24v etc, 24v eth, etc. Then once in that section you could click on a hp range. For example, lets say you want your 2001 ETH to make 400-425hp. Listed under this section would be all the 24v ETH trucks and setups that dynoed in this hp range. Would be a neat way to see different combinations that "usually" result in a given hp.

Sorting things by mods would seem really difficult. There are so many possible combinations.

JMO,

Chris
