Boost hose kit?

I just got my truck back from the shop this evening after having my injectors sent to Dynomite Diesel Performance in Monroe WA for (90 hp) extrude honing. All I can say is Oh My!

First off, I want to re-iterate the fact that this impression is based on gauge monitoring, truck feel, and the SOTP meter only. No dyno results yet.

The first thing I noted was how smoothly the truck idled. Much more smooth and even than prior. No knocking at all (not that it knocked before).

After getting in the truck and putting it in drive, I depressed the accelerator and immediately looked at the attitude monitor to see if maybe the mechanic had stepped it up to 4 or 5 (I ususally run it on 1 for daily driving) - cause this damn thing took off like a bat out of hell! I mean like never before. Sure enough it was still on 1. Then I reached under the dash to check the EZ switch (again usually left on 1) because the low end (1000-1500 rpms) was orders of magnitude stronger than before. The boost was coming on so fast I thought the gauge needle was going to fly off. Yup, still on 1. It was at that point I realized that these injectors were for real.

I tried to take it easy getting home, driving relatively controlled as I usually do. EGT's were up about 50 degrees at 68-70 mph on the highway. Boost at 4 psi. Smooth as silk, no smoke, no abnormal sounds.

Got about half way home and the devil on my right shoulder made me get off the highway earlier than usual, on to some less traveled secondary roads, to see what these injectors were all about. Put the hot juice on 3, left the EZ on 1. Nailed the throttle and the tires lit up almost instantaneously. Dropped the throttle as the truck got sideways and I barked the hell out of the turbo (oops, I didn't mean to do that). Nailed it again, same thing - tires lit up like a dragster. Instantly the boost was at 50, fuel pressure down to 9-10 (FASS 95gph would previously keep the needle fixed at 15+ regardless of the juice setting). I couldn't contain my joyful laughter. Watching the gas temps as I accelerated down the road, it definitely seemed to reach 1250 (pre-turbo) quicker than prior. Things were going by so much quicker than before that I was almost relieved to have an excuse to get out of it.

Cruised the rest of the way home contently with a perma-grin on my face and an occasional laugh out loud - best modification I have ever made to my truck, bar none.

I hope that the dyno results back up my initial impressions, but in a way I don't care. This thing is so much more fun to drive, so much quicker off the line, so much smoother accererating from bottom to top, and builds boost so much faster, that I wouldn't take them out even if it lost power.

Way to go Ross & Dynomite Diesel Performance - for $300 you made my day, week, month... ...

Cali-600:

DDP is having a special through the end of Febuary - $300 to extrude hone all six injectors. Cost me $200 to have a tech remove and reinstall them (since I'm in upstate NY I couldn't get to their shop). I overnighted the injectors to DDP, they turned them around in 24 hours, and I had them back in the truck the following day. Total down time was 3 days.

Jason, Please keep us updated on your MPG impact. I'm trying to get a friend with an 06 to do a little lite bombing. I suspect all I have to do is spank him with my 03 someday and he'll be reaching for his wallet. :-laf

GSXR750 - the link is www.dynomitediesel.com or give them a call and ask for Ross.

Prairie Dog - I will definitely keep you posted on the MPG change. I probably wont start re-recording my mileage until some of the novelty wears off and I can get my right foot back under control.

Glad to hear it!!! i drop my truck off monday a. m. to have my injectors pulled and sent out and install 4. 56 gears. Ross told me 1 day turn around also. I had 100hp bully dog inj. in my 01 and loved them, i hope these are close. should know by thurs.

My 04. 5 is still stock. I dont think I can pass up that price, so my question is: will my stock drivetrain handle this added power, I really want this done to my injectors.

Just remember, you've got your hands on a loaded gun. You pay the price to bomb, I know I am now. I'm currently shopping transmission's ;)

Ryan, If you are doing your trans, do it right! I will not dis any other manufactures trany as I have not run them... .

I have run a fully done DTT trans installed by Fred Swanson in Phoenix. It is a whole new truck. I ran my 01 49K and never had any trans issues. If you thought your truck was strong before wait until you get your trans modified :)

I have my 05 scheduled to get a full DTT setup with Fred Swanson next week end. I can't hardly wait... I want to see what that TST is like above 4x4 :)

Anyway, I highly suggest giving Bill K a call at www.dieseltrans.com

Good Luck!
