I can assure you that is not the over heating color, that is paint, probably hiding the true over heating color. The over heating color is more of a brownish gold, darker on the out side and lighter on the inside. I see this on RVs where the owner/driver does not have a clue of what he has because he is not the original owner/driver.

Iv'e seen many a banks modded (Or . 22shell modded HY's )golden brown like that ... . even the leading output tube the same color on one member's truck. The mod puts the hy waaay out of its map creating some of the highest intake temps I have yet to see. The ottomind defuels with its 1300 safety cutoff waaay sooner than it needs to because of that. Mine was that color when I pulled it to swap out for the first PDR I had.



It's the clear coat that turns color from the aluminium heating up sooo fast... ... hence the over heat.

i second tool man mine was that color too... You know it was a facotry turbo though because only they have the clear coat the replacments do not and do not turn that color.

My hy got a light golden brown before I changed it... . but heck I invented the . 22 shell method and would hit 40 psi and 1500 degrees on occasion with the HY.

Absolutly! When I had my hy and was running dd1'swith the ottomind's egt defuel dissabled (Tie wrapped to the coolant hose) I could spank 1400 + Easily along with 42Lbs of heat ... . I mean boost.
