Ok, here's the scooby-- the truck is on order, and listening to the recommendations of items that are a must-have for a truck includes an exhaust brake... . Rumor has it that exhaust brake will void warrantee on engine or transmission or something.

TRUE???

If the warrantee is scrapped with the install of an e-brake I'm sticking with replacing brakepads. If not, I'll go with an e-brake.

Do a search, if you haven't already.

I remember reading that Dodge voids the warranty on the auto trans. if you use the e-brake. I also read that they may not if you use their e-brake installed by them.

If the dealer says that it will not void the warranty, I suggest you get that in writing. JHMO.

Dodge has even contacted owners of automatics who had dealer-installed E-brakes to have them return for removal of the E-brake as serious transmission damage has occured. (fried trannys)

If you are interested in putting an E-brake on your Auto Trans... my only advise to drive my truck first!!. The only way to go is with a DTT setup, along with Bill K's Smart Controller, teamed up with a pacbrake. Yes I have this setup. It is awesome. It's really hard to explain the system. . you really have to see it to understand it.

Make sure you stay away from Mystery Switches... they are not so good on the transmission.

First things first... before you even think about the brake, Get the DTT TC and VB ASAP!!!

If you would like I can show you the before and after feeling of driving with a DTT setup. My wife has a totally stock 2k1. 5 auto. . then mine is tricked out. It is probably a good idea for your to drive both so you get a feeling for how the DTT setup changes the way your truck drives. Just and idea

Hope this helps

Exhaust Brake

You'll will not void your warranty, when you install Jacob's E-Brake on manual transmission Dodge Ram's,not recommend on automatics, stock automatic's are a week link on Dodge Rams:(

Thanks all

All,

Thanks for the info. I'll hit the dealership service dept as soon as I get back (hunting trip). That way I can hopefully find out which ones, if any, they accept. Otherwise I'll have to stay stock until warr runs out (which, BTW, is pretty darn fast for Dodge!!!)

Brian,

Dodge will void your warranty if you put an exhaust brake on the auto. I have a very good friend that runs the service dept at a Dodge dealer, and he not only said they would deny warranty, but he also recommended against putting it in. The stock auto is not built to slow that engine down. But,I would consider the DTT setup that Kevin Arts is talking about.

Brake

Had a pac-brake on my 92 from new, best piece of any aftermarket I EVER put on a vehicle. Bought a new 01, and sadly, you WILL void your warranty on an automatic if you put one on. I've talked to God on this one as I loved my ex. brake. Sorry, I know I am!!!

Big A,

Out of curiosity, what would your friend say if he saw my setup? He would know the first time that he drove it that it wasn't stock. Do you think he would give me static for it?
