Found this. I like the idea of Stainless cables, and the housings that is a transmission mount, to protect the cable ends from rocks and mud. There are no boots on the cable ends and there is no cover for the opening in the brake shield pass through. Any ideas? Am I off in the wrong direction? Thanks. GregH
Found these. The price is surely excellent. However I dont know if they have the flexible weather grommets on the exposed ends. They are Stainless Steel. GregH
I learned to be a little wary of JC Whitney parts. But you can always return them if they look to cheap when you get them.
All I know is make sure you always have a working e brake. That is the only way I was able to get my truck to my son's repair shop when my brake line rusted thru and let go. Luckily I was in my driveway stopped when it let go other wise I would have had a really good story to tell.
Bought E-brake cables at Checker. Made by Bendix. They are a plastic coated wire rope that is not stainless steel but will work! Cost less than $36. 00 for both. Thats less than 1/2 the price that I paid for one, from a garage!!! Installed them today. The fit at the passthru hole in the backing plate is better than the set that was on the truck, however, IMHO, it still needs some RTV to seal the hole. I'll do that before we button up the axle.
