Does anyone know where I can buy an exhaust brake for the new high output engine (305 hp) in the 1-ton Dodge that I bought today? None here in Alberta.

G,

I was at the Tacoma WA, RV show today, and no one has one on the market at least of the big names,BD, Banks, Pac-brake. The Dodge web site states that they have one available for the 03. For right now that is probably your best bet.

Steve,

2003 Ram 1-ton Dually on order, and it will be a long remaining seven weeks of waiting, I want that thing now!!!!!!!

I emailed BD about theirs (since I really like the one I have from them), but have not received a reply back.

I just picked up my 03 dually today. I asked parts man for the availability of the Jacobs E-brake, and he handed me a program sheet from DC on the e-brake. It says, program description, 38C3R/38F3R Jacobs Brake, 2003 Ram Pickup, contact program headquarters to validate certificate number. Parts may be fulfilled from dealer inventory or ordered through MOPAR.

Parts: Jake brake, Ram pickup, part #82207410.

Dealer installs Jake Brake with charge to customer of $299. Dealer is reimbursed for $375 for parts plus $60 for installation. Customer pays $299 MSRP.

Buuut, they don't know when the brake is available. Parts man says # is good, but unavailable at this time.

The only stipulation is, this offer is not good with certain rebates. The only one that effects me is, I would have to pay back the $500 Farm Bureau rebate I received.

I'm going to check this out further tomorrow. Ask your dlr. about this.

From the horses mouth, Cummins told me December release due to design changes prior to release.

BD, which I prefer, responded with... .

... . We will have an option for you very shortly. It would be a remote mount air activated brake. The turbo mount brake is going to be a couple of months in the developing. It most likely will be an airbrake as well. Either give us a call at 1-800-887-5030 or keep an eye on the website.

So it looks like the one from the dealer would cost $800. :( Is that steep installed? Does a BD ect. void warranty?

Thats what this program sheet says, parts man says that # is priced at $840. + install.

BD says theirs will probably sell for around 1000. 00.

Guys, the $500 incentive on Jakes is part of the 'on-the-job' incentives suite, see dodge.com web site. Understood that you can get $500 discount on the Jakes or on the ladder rack or on the steps or... well you got the picture.

I also think that Jakes for $300 (that's $450 CDN or 5 billion yens)is quite a deal! :D

New to the forum, some really great information here. I just called my local dealer here, and they didn't seem to know anything about this incentive program. I also didn't see anything on dodge.com about it. Could somebody post some more information on this please so I know exactly what to tell them when asking about this? Thanks a bunch.

I just came back from a Dealer sponsored "Kickoff" for the heavy duty rams. I was given a brochure that is called "Business Link". In that brochure they offer a "Jake Brake"(as they call it), and is only available on the manual Diesel Powered pickups. MSRP is $799. 00 with a $500. 00 incentive allowance, customer pays $299. 00. Even includes the shift-lever mounted switch. I wil be getting one on my new 2003 Ram that I have on order.

Casey, is Dodge's Jakes the same as http://www.jakebrake.com ? Thanks! Dan

The Ram Brake is manufactured by Jacobs and the same ones the Dodge dealers sell. You will find a Dodge Ram section on their website but nothing for the new models. If you write them, they will put you on the list to be notified when the brake is available. I was hoping to put mine on while everything was still new. Also interesting to note that Dodge recommends and exhaust brake for any manual trans truck that pulls over 10,000 pounds. I showed that to my wife, and said that if the book says it needs it better get it. :D :D :D

Cheers, Casey
