OK ... with the wealth of knowledge and experience here ... which e-brake is the best? In your humble and honest opinions I might add!

I'm looking at the BD or PAC - one is much cheaper than the other. Any suggestions????

Rammin... Look two inches above the words "humble and" in your post. . you will see the word search. . click on it . . follow instructions and you will get many posts on this subject... good source of info already on "file"

IMHO. . pac brake is fewer $$ and both are very good

There are many posts on this in the past but here's my $. 02 . I have the BD brake on my truck and a friend has the Pac on his. The Pac brake is quite a bit cheaper (although you can get the BD at a GREAT price on Carl's group buy right now) than the BD. We've compared our trucks running side by side down the road with approximately the same load behind them (7500 lbs) and at high rev's they brake about the same. However below 2,000 rpm the BD works way better, I'd say at least 50% better. Also, the BD has a much bigger vacuum cylinder (3" diameter as opposed to 2. 5"). This part is just subjective but I like the sound of the BD better too, his brake when engaged makes a big time hissing/swooshing noise because of the hole in the butterfly valve (we think) whereas the BD doesn't have that hole and I think sounds better. Lastly I can warm my truck up at idle way faster with my BD than he can with his Pac - with my brake engaged my egt's will go up to around 550 degrees, his will only hit 300. I can warm my truck up to full operating temp in about 5 minutes in 30 degree weather - he says his will never warm up (he may have never waited long enough though). BD has an excellent comparison on their website at http://www.dieselperformance.com/Exhaust_Brakes/Turbo_Mount_Exaust_Brake/turbo_mount_exaust_brake.html between the BD, Pac, Cummins/Jacobs, and US Gear brakes. Just keep in mind that it's coming from BD so take that for what it's worth!
