Anyone see the biodiesel blurb on the Weather Channel?

do you call it a truck or a pickup?

I have an '06 E320 CDI (Common Rail Direct Injection) and it is without a doubt the finest vehicle I have ever owned. 3. 2l straight 6 turbocharged engine. It does an honest 38-40 MPG on the freeway! Ed B

I wonder if the ran it nonstop or what. if they did it would be for 714 hrs or over 29 days, wonder what kinda mileage it got.

How's the power on that thing? Looking for a new car for the wife... wouild love to get her an E320 as it's very practical... . but struggling, becasue a 535i has the nice twin turbo 6 and hauls the mail... granted not as economical...

The power is good. 0 to 60 in 6. 6 seconds (advertised). 210 HP and +/-390 torque. '06 was the last year of the I6 engines. The '07 and later are a "V" design with a little more HP and torque. Our car has absolutly no trouble getting up to speed or passing other vehicles. The only time you know its a diesel is when you start it on a cold morning. Ed B

I just got a 06 E320 CDI. Amazing ride! 37 mpg at 75 mph on the interstate. The I6 was only in the 05 and 06 cars and will show better economy compared to the new ones. They have 18-1 compression ratio vs 16. 5 in the v-6.

I love my Cummins but for just running around 37mpg beats 22mpg every time. If you have to go "green" you may as well do it with a little class.

My father has an '05 E320 CDI that he picked up on Euro delivery program. He really enjoyed that experience.

The E320 CDI is like a rocketship! The car is so smooth and fast. I also agree with FWhite, I have heard the same thing and my father's fuel mileage is similar with the I-6.

I just bought a '95 E300D with low miles and really enjoy the quality construction and longevity of Mercedes cars.

If you prefer inline 6...

If you prefer inline 6, as I do, check out the BMW diesels that are to arrive in the USA for '09 models. They are to offer the 3. 0L inline 6, dual turbocharger diesel engine in one model car and SUV. I think the Mercedes E320 with the inline 6 does have a fuel economy advantage, mainly because of the added new emission crap.

I had a mid 80's( It was a while ago... ) MB 230 with the 4 cylinder diesel and a 5 speed.

It would get an honest 40 MPG's @ 80 MPH.
