I have had Eagle wheels in the past, however 16", but did enjoy them. I am looking at the 114 and 186 styles. Will the 17" clear our calipers? I understand that some 17" wheels will not.

Pretty sure they will, I think a couple people have them on thier trucks, they do not have the same offset through as the factory wheels so they stick out an inch or two.

I personally like the 114's myself. I think this is a very good price for the wheels. Others have been skeptical of the quality and manufacturing process of the wheels. However, I would buy a 5th wheel as a spare in case one of the 4 failed. Especially at that price.

I was eyeing a set of their rims but polished finish isn't a good idea in a salted road state.

I'm waiting for a reply from them about their "super finish. "

I'm looking into getting a set of 114's clear powder coated. I have yet to get the wheels, and I have to call the powdercoater this week. I'll let you know what he says.

Eagle Alloys

All,

I have been looking at the same companies rims. Does anyone know if the Max load rating @ 3420 lbs will limit me towing anything in any way?

Also what about rub? These are 18 x 9. 5. Stocks are 17 x 8. So I guess you are gaining 3/4 inch on both sides of the rim inner and outer? Is this correct?

Yes NNelson you are correct, however the offset I'm sure it set outward so you'll probably be about the same inside and protrude 1. 5" out beyond stock at least. I see they don't list offset & backspace.

One more question, I am having a hard time deciding on 17 or 18 inch. Any pros/cons of either? Kind of want to go 18's but cant make up my mind.

It really depends on what tire size you like. I have 18's and I chose to run 33" tires ( biggest that will fit w/out a leveling kit), which IMO was a mistake. There are really no E rated tires in a 33 and the choices of D rated are very few as well. I am considering going to the Toyo 35" MT that is E rated. Basically from what I have seen, Many of the 17" wheels will not fit the 3rd gen trucks. So what it comes down to is if you want very few choices in wheels and many choices of tires- get the 17's. If you want a good selection of wheels, but very few choices of tires- get the 18's.
