"... Is Earth gaining weight? At the present rate, Earth gains about 40,000 metric tons each year from space debris that bombard our planet. Yet it loses an amount so small (atmospheric gases, etc. ) as to not really warrant any serious consideration. So, will Earth's weight gain have an impact on its orbit, relative mass (gravitational pull) or any other properties? Although 40,000 metric tons a year sounds like a huge gain, when you compare it to the immense size of Earth, it dwindles to a meager 0. 000003 of one percent of the Earth's mass. The impact is insignificant. "

Some of the referenced links do not work, but a lot of information.

Earth gains about 40,000 metric tons each year from space debris that bombard our planet.

So where is it at???

And if the earth was really billions and billions of years old whats that saying ??

Rev. Kent Hoven Said it best "WHEN YOU SEE BILLIONS AND BILLIONS OF YEARS AGO IN A HISTORY BOOK JUST KEEP ON TURNING THE PAGE BECAUSE THAT MEANS THEY THINK IT HAPPENED BUT HAVE NO IDEA WHEN'

In all realality the Earth is no where near as old as scientest say it is.

The 40,000 tons would of barried Earth by now...

See there always proving there self wrong .

In the book "The Genisis Flood", the author uses that argument as evidence for the creation theory. On the other hand, maybe the Earth started out to be the size of the moon and it's aleady bloated.

Since we call our planet 'Mother Earth' - let's assume it is female.

If you claim that it is gaining weight, this can't be good.

Before we know what hit us, our planet is going to be having a hissy fit... asking other planets if the ionosphere makes it look fat.

I really hope a male planet doesn't answer honestly and tell Mother Earth: "It's not the ionosphere that makes you look fat. It's your bloated tectonic plates that make you look fat!"

LOL

But think of all the weight loss in trees ,,,,coal,,,oil

The Earth probly weighs less today then 500 years ago IMO.

And I know for a fact that there are less people alive today then there have ever been alive ... ... I contacted the census board on a stupid bet and they actually reply'd and with numbers!!!ITS on a DTR thread I would link it but They wont let me back in. Probly for posts like this

LOL

I think DM is right, our "waste" can only be created by what we consume. Now for example if we were to burn 20 trees we would be losing weight in the form of gas & ash.

Now if you were to take the same 20 trees and put them thru the chipper you would only lose a SLIGHT percent of that tree (from the cutters... . MAYBE) althought the tree woudlnt be standing the weight is still the same. Not unless were hauling aggrigate from the moon back to earth would we gain weight

Again maybe Im wrong. heck Its just food for thought
