Gas or diesel in smaller MH?

Thanks to everyone who responded to my request for extended camper warranty info. Think I'll pass for now on purchasing a policy. My next question is how to prevent or make it easier to remove bugs that have decided to commit sucide on the front of our 2004 All American Sport 5er ?

Someone suggested spraying Pam on the surface. Is this a good idea ? It may make removal easier but also attract more of the little critters. I've tried waxing but I still have to scrub them off with the help of Greased Lightning. What do you suggest ? Thanks again.

I put PAM on mine AND IT WAS A TEE TOTAL MESS. It ran in the heat, smelled, and was a mess to get off.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While I've not tried it ,some have used bounce dryer sheets after wetting them to scrub them critters off. I put two coats of nu-finish polymer finish on the front cap and will evaluate the results after a good bug run!

If you are going to put a coat of wax on it after you clean it I would recommend Gas to clean it. It will take off anything from bugs to tar to anything else stuck on the vehicle. Beyond popular belief it will not take the paint off (unless you dont clean it off) I usually just whipe the paint off with a gas soaked rag then wash the truck with soap and water and then just put on a coat of wax. I have done this many times to my Dakota and have had a lot of success.

I too tried the Pam, agree with rweis, if you have a rubber roof if will cause it to bubble up and come off. Been there, done that. I have used the fabric softener sheets too, they work pretty good, better than the bug washing pads you can buy. Just returned from a three week trip and used something called Bug Proof on the lower half of front of trailer. It made the bugs much easier to remove, most of them where I had used it washed off in a rain storm I came through around Wichita Falls. Not so where I didn't use it, I spent most of yesterday cleaning the front of trailer. I got the stuff at Kamper Kapital on Forrest Lane in Dallas. If you would like the address of mfg. I have that too. bg

I second the idea of using fabric softener dryer sheets.

I have heard of some people using the cheap, thin plastic drop cloths (almost as thin as SaranWrap) that are available for around a dollar at Lowes/Home Depot. I guess they cling to the front surface really well. When you arrive at your destination, just peel it off and discard. Never tried this myself, but thought it was an interesting idea!

many truckers will spray Pledge furniture polish on the front of their trucks during "love bug" season. Pledge is wax.
second what jnelson says. I've been using pledge on my motorcycle - works well on metal and plastic including my windscreen with a soft cloth. Also works good on the truck bumper, chrome, plastic, plastic mirror covers.

I dont think something that thin will hold up.

My wife just got a clear tablecloth for our new dining room set.

It's a little thicker and may hold up better.

I think she got it in walmart.

I have used NU-FINISH polish from WALMART for years. It comes in an orange bottle. It is the best thing I have found for ease of bug removal and it is long lasting. . 6 mo to 1 yr.

May try some of the Bug Proof to see if it is any better.

Made a trip down I-10 to Baton Rouge last week. The love bugs are still alive and well, at least some of them. I sprayed Pledge on the front of the car, headlights, bumper, leading edge of hood and rear view mirror backside. It went on kinda heavy and lumpy and I had some blowback on the windshield and side window after the trip but the bugs came off very easily. I think I will spray the Pledge on a cloth and wipe it on next time. Also read in newspaper of an old solution I had forgotten, pour diet cola on the windshield to help remove the bugs. Any cola would probably work just as well but with all the sugar you might end up with other problems. bg
