The cup and ball socket attaching my throttle linkage to the fuel pump broke. So after call around for about a half hour I discovered no one had any . So I decided to fix it myself.

I went down to the local NAPA auto parts and purchased the following

2 small Ball joints

3' all thread rod " the only size it came in "

2 nylon locking nuts

2 non locking nuts

total $15. 00

If you need anymore info such as part numbers or , measurements just pm me and i''ll pm you back.

Nice job, however there was a recall on this very thing. I had Chrysler do the recall with all new parts and labor on my 92 for Free. Worth a call to the dealer. MOE

"Did you drill the holes out ? or did they thread in post the part numbers "

The lever on the fuel pump had a ball sockect that had a threaded backside . But On the bracket that holds all your cables running from your petal , etc. on that lever its not really welded, it's more of a stud . ((I removed the bracket form the truck it made it easier to work on, it is only attached by 2 bolts)) So I just used a a hand saw and cut ball socket off as close to the base as I could . Once I had cut completely cut through I used a hammer and a punch press and I just tapped out what was left in the pre drilled hole. And then put in my new ball joint assembly.

NAPA Auto parts Part #'s

2 x Ball Joints 732-1400 $13. 78

3' Thread Rod 813-1411 $4. 29

2 x Locknut NIN-24 $0. 22

2 x Non Locking nut I Dont have a part # they gave them to me for free

No the replacements were metal, I used them on my 1st Gen.

I like performing mods to my truck as well, but it was way easier for me to pull the plastic link ends and replace them with the upgrade steel/nylon ends from Cummins as mentioned above.

As I become older, it becomes apparent I don't like wrenching on my trucks.

Front joint 3990094 $7. 13

Rear joint 3990093 $7. 13

This is the recommended cummins method. If you'd go to Mopar, you get the kit for an inflated price w/the second gen throttle rod you can't really use.

I like the sexy overkill link assembly as pictured above, but with update parts from Cummins, it was easier.

Well, yeah. You have to thread the old ones off and the new ones on the rod. Then they snap in place. They fit quite tight. To remove them will require a long screw driver/pry bar.

If the ball is worn out then you may want to replace the shooting match as above, or get the Mopar assembly kit which has a new ball stud. I can't remember ever seeing one that is worn out though as the link ends are plastic.
