Changed the gear oil on my 2018 yesterday and came up with this simple no mess way of re-filling.

Drilled two holes on the cap of gallon jug of GL5, one hole for a 3/8" rubber hose and another to apply pressurized air.
Used a regulator to set air pressure as low as it would go, about 4psi.
Pushed one end of 3/8" hose down to bottom of jug, the other end into diff fill hole.
Used an air gun to squirt short bursts of very low pressure air into gallon jug.
Took about 5 minutes to get the full gallon into the diff, no spills no mess.

Or, you could get one of these for $8.00.

They're available from most any auto parts store or Harbor Freight. They're made to screw on a quart bottle, but you can just put it down in a gallon jug and hold it in place. Works great. Most come with an adapter on the end that screws into the PTO cover bolt holes to fill the transmission easily.

Solid idea!

I’ve got a pump, but it’s messy.

The gear lube I prefer is now sold in soft bags, but that’s new since I last changed fluids. My 18 now has 13K on it, and I plan to dump most, if not all, of the OE fluids at 15K.

I like the idea of draining the oil through the drain hole in my cover and then I can remove the cover to clean the diff housing. You than can also check the gears for even contact and wear. When I refill, I can use the top fill hole using a hand fluid pump to fill the housing, I then use the magnetic dipstick to insure proper fill of the differential. Clean and neat no mess!
