A lot of posts here and every where there is talk about alt. anything seems to run into a way to high % of jokes , I beleaves and nea sayers , with no real info .
Then from the already invested [ conventional ] its all disinformation .
I strugle with trying to keep the automatic crap detector in overdrive ,
I call it crital thinking , do not beleave anything , do not take sides without your own proof , at least keep an opened mind to new info , I'm always running into this or that guy that is there doing , farming , writting programs for the refiners , independent driller , oil explorers ect. and just like watching almost any media everbody has there oposing scienctists ,
Its getting to the point were if everyone says it will not work , thats the 1st place I want to check out .
SORRY ABOUT THE RANT
Thats one of the other don'ts , keep the emotion out of all of it .
I've been seeing & hearing a lot of interveiws on this guy on veryouse sources .

According to Lester Brown of the Earth Policy Institute the amount of corn needed to fill a 25 gallon suv tank with ethanol could feed a person for a year.

My question is are there any people willing to take him up on this? Including himself. This trans lates into a little shy of 9 bushels at 100%, and 7. 6 bushels at the pump standard of 85%. :--)

Did he mention any statistics pertaining to animal feed co-products/by-products? There is a significant amount of high grade animal feed that is produced in the process, not the same as human food but we do eat the animals...

You sparked my interest on this topic, thanks. :)

SD, the little bit that I psted was all that was in the piece I read, I never claimed it was much, I like to see peoples reations. Yes it was a farming magazine and there was nothing said about by-products. I too would like to know more about the processing of bio-diesel from ethanol by-products, if you see, hear, or find a site with more in depth info on it please drop me a line. Oo.

tgordon, good conversation. Corn oil is derived from the "wet milling" process, the lesser of the two milling processes from what I read. Dry mill being the other more common process. My guess is more producers will switch and start making biodiesel as well as ethanol.

These companies are netting fuel as well as feed revenue from the process. The local economies get a boost with the additional jobs and the trickle down affect incomes provide locally. I don't think the Dr. (I assume) from the original post should complain, he should move out here and try his luck in one of these one-horse-towns...

striper, he could even try it in MI. I live near Lansing and at least in the one horse towns you have some pretty country, not old closed down GM plants and people who were making 40k+ in ******* and moaning. If things don't turn around in this state soon agriculture will again be the number one employer here(farms, processors, etc)

By the way, andy large animal vets out there looking for help, I know one soon to be Dr. who wants to do just that. :-laf :-laf

Thanks, troy
