Ok, I have a nice eaton fuller shifter knob that I want to replace the round knob from the getrag with. Searching the archives had info for the 2nd gens, but I need to know what the thread size for our getrag is? I guess I need some type of adaptor or threaded sleave for the 13sp knob to fit. Its a bigger thread than the getrag knob, went to Napa, they couldnt help, said one was metric, and didnt carry anything like it. What ya think? BTW, the knobs are very cheap from a local big truck salvage yard, always heard of them being expensive-NOT. tia Bill

What thread

I was going to replace the knob on the 93 and got what was supposed to be right from the parts store. Nothing fit. I finally used the old knob with some tape around it. It think the thread is an orphan, spell that b a s t a r d. You might have to get a machine shop to make the adapter.

What you gona use the red switch for?

Both switches arent functional. Just something to play with going down the road, only dont have the real air switch noise you get with the real thing that the girlfriend gets tired of hearing- if ya been there done that, you know what im talkin about :). Bill

When I put the Fuller knob on mine it was too tall for comfort. I shortened the lever an welded a 1/2" stud in the end. I am using the splitter knob for 4lo switch. I plan on installing an engine brake and will use the range knob to control it.

Well, heres the tough part, finding an adaptor bushing or sleeve to make this work. The threads on the e/f are 1/2" bolt thread and the getrag is 3/8" bolt thread, not pipe thread if it was it would be a piece of cake. Went to napa, a bearing place, and AZ, nothing for me. Called a fastener store, and they say they can order 'coupling nuts' for this 1/2"-3/8", $2. 10 each $10 minimum order, so I ordered 5 pieces. This way if it works out good, I can pass on these coupling nuts to anyone interested in the eaton fuller knob. Will be a week til they get them in, sure hope there the right thing. If not, looks like JB weld a 3/8" nut to the e/f knob and then screw the shifter on... we'll see... Bill

I took the vacuum line that goes to the t/case ran it through the splitter circuit on the knob. Then down to the t/case. If the switch is in the off position the CAD in the axle does't work. Flip it on and the CAD will lock up. I do have to pull the lever back to 2hi to unlock the axle. But it works for me.

UPDATE

Well once again the TDR has come through for me. A big thanks to Alan (Paychk) for the link, it was exactly what I needed. For those wanting to do this, you'll need one of those keyserts in that link. It a threaded insert, 3/8"-16 ID, 1/2"-13 OD. You have to go to a parts store and educate them, seems like if you do something different anymore, or if its not in the computer, they have no idea. Get Keysert brand threaded insert, I went to Fastenal. There was a $10 minimum order with each piece costing about $2. 00, so buy some for your friends. Alan if you want to do this, I got one for you. I'll get a pic of the finished product later. Heres a pic a insert and an insert in the eaton fuller shifter knob. Thanks again. Bill

Any of you guys heard of putting an real EF in our trucks? My gutbag is going to be rebuilt soon and I'm looking for an upgrade... ...

They do put them behind cummins trucks dont they????

Too Cool, I'm glad it worked for you. If you wouldn't mind sending one of those inserts, I'll PM my address to you.

Thanks

No but I am thinking about a 610 Eaton. Buddy of mine has it. Never saw another one like it. Smallest one I ever saw. Supposedly a 10 speed OD. Nothing fits. I would have to fab everything.

That would be awsome! You have to fab most everything when you put in the NV5600 anyways. At least that way you can get the 10 speed.

Would probably be alot easier on a 2wd truck than on a 4wd as you dont have to adapt to any T-case.

I would like to see pictures of your friends 610

I know this is an old thread but I finnally but a 13 spd shifter on my Getrag.

I have some new info on the adapters

fastneal part # 1160571 8 $ for 10 of them

Thanks to the crew above for the dims i nneded to ask for

I'm too cheap to buy parts so I welded a 3/8 nut to a 1/2 bolt. The nice thing is if you want to change the angle of the knob, just weld it at an angle. It worked good for me! :)
