Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Ebay Bummer

I found a 95 ctd. 4x4 slt. with 125 k on the clock and a clear title it had right front damage and they were selling this less the motor and trans . I justs so happen to have the same exact truck that was creamed on the LH. side that had all the parts i needed to make one truck complete. I was willing to pay good money for this to . although i'm sure the bids would have gone out of control any way . to make a long story short they sold the truck off line and ended the auction early. I don't think thats right to do. any way i think that was pretty foolish on their part because there was over 2,588 hits on the counter. oh well . mike

Mike, from what I've seen of e-bay auctions for trucks, the prices quickly go beyond what they are worth. It's like the people bidding get in a frenzy, thinking it is a real bargain because it is being auctioned. Some of the prices those trucks go for amaze me. I basically look locally when buying, that way I can see the hidden faults etc. , plus you need to remember delivery adds to the price.

hey---that is there way of getting out of selling the truck too cheap for what they expected to get for it. Alot of these trucks are priced way too high, especially by the used dealers and people that paid full msrp for these and dont want to lose too much!

In most of these adds it says something like the item is for sell locally and the auction may end early. I think that this is the sellers caveat to not have to sell if the bids are not high enough. I don't know why they don't just set a reserve price. I guess it is because by ending the auction early and selling locally they do not have to pay any auction fees. If you find a truck you like make them an offer as a private party sale. Ebay does nothing to help you if the deal goes bad so a person might as well take their own chances.
