I bought a modified HX35 turbo that has a water-cooled center section. It came from ebay, but was higher priced. I had two turbo shops look at it and they said whoever built it knew what they were doing. It is almost mounted onto the truck. The problem I ran into and you will too, is with the wastegate in the pic. The wastegate in that location would interfere with my intake housing. I installed my stock wastegate and had to grind and weld the actuator arm in the turbo 90 degrees.

Thnx for the info, probably going to just rebuild mine with a ebay kit but dang they sure are priced right.

truck has 260K on it, sounds good under the hood and pulls really good but I think I hear a tingy metaly kinda singing out of the ex at idle... kinda guessing it may be a little loose? I have never rebuilt one but studied it online and watched a youtube guy do one, looks like nothing to them if you buy a quality kit and nothing is worn out on the vane or shaft?.

You can pull the intake boot off of the turbo and see if the wheel has been hitting the housing. Also, you can check for any in and out play on the shaft.

the guy replied back from ebay... China made Turbo's... ... . pass!

bought enough china stuff, precision componets is not there strong point, dont need a turbo winging apart.

went to the Holset site and they let you download all the turbo specs and rebuild info, very detailed. . hit the print button, bam rebuild manual!

going to pull my boot and check end play if its the . 01-. 05 going to run it if she's loose going to rebuild it at home.
