Calling all Auto Transprters!!!!

Has anyone information on Eclipse 5th wheel trailers 28RLSSG. Eclipse is big on the toy hauler market use I beam for frame instead of C channel. This is built on the same frame as toy haulers 11,500 gross 1780 on pin. 7000# axles, large brakes upgrade. Centurion Pkg. Its the Milan Fifth wheel any info good or bad will be of help thanks BIG

Eclipse is a recent start-up company with little to no history. I think they are the company that went into business right after several in Riverside County and SoCal went under with the recent economic downturn.

They are probably the group that bought some of the remains of Weekend Warrier who was a huge builder of toyhaulers until the owner got caught with too much debt when sales slowed drastically. The trailers may be a rebadged Weekend Warrier.

Weekend Warriers were very popular and sold lots of units, primarily on the west coast to the weekend sand dune runners out of LA and Riverside counties. They were not great quality trailers and not suitable for all season camping IMO but satisfactory.

The transport company I worked for pulled them and I pulled a lot of them myself. I would rate them as okay for what they were intended for which was weekend desert camping.

BIGNASTY, do a search on the thread, " Better RV Brands". I remember doing a reply to a question about an Eclipse 5th wheel with a quote from my new RV Consumer Group. (2009 & 2010 units)

Hey Big that company isn't down in Hemet is it ? if it is I would watch how there built ran across a couple companies that were Cheaply built and fly by night down that way .

The company is in Riverside off of Kansas. My son and I went over to take a look (hes the one buying mom and dad are moving) The company has made Toy haulers for a long time Ive seen their trailers rolling up and down I 10 for years. They are getting into the TT and 5ver market. The TT's are Low end but it looks like they want to take a stab at 5vers in a big way. The frame is I beam and looks like a truck frame the guy that took us on the tour said its the frame from their toy hauler line and can take allot of abuse (just watch them in the Desert) and to cut down on expense and inventory they use the same frame in the 5th wheel. The trailer my son is looking at said it's 28 foot I dont know how they measure these things but it looks longer than that. Is it form pin to bumper? The axle's are 7k for this trailer and the brakes are bigger I cant remember the size the guy told me the weight of the unit is 11,500 I dont know but that seems heavy for a 28 ft 5ver isnt it? The amount of insulation was not to be believed the floor has a ply substrate with 2 and 1/2 inch foam all sealed then the tanks were insulated and had heaters and heated dump valves. all sealed form top and bottom. The construction of the coach was alum all joints welded. (he made a big deal about this) are some of the other spot welded? foam in the walls and the ceiling was the most insulation ive seen in these things ive helped in a few reroof jobs and this is way over kill. The outside skin is not Filon its the Gelcoat like a boat finish. The trailer can have formica counter tops to Corian, Flexsteel recliners and couch. Sink is under counter mount SS with home style fixtures. All elect. is in conduit and sealed all lights are LED. Has a central vac 50 amp sirv. for the 2 ac units I guess. 2 slides even a fireplace like the one on TV that has a Amish guy building it (it's elect. ) The windows I thought were nice double pane insulated I didnt know they had double pane windows for trailers but them again I didnt ask. Raidus roof. dont know what else but IMO its not a bad looking rig but then I dont have to make the payments. On a side note Harvey I told the salemen to make this sale your going to take off the WILL POPS and put on some tires of our choice in 16 in tires he said Ill bet you want the Mincheiln Man. The tire's were 16 inch but I looked at the load rate and it would have been close for the trailer /tire combo
