Hello ,

I need help locating a used 24V cummins ECM for a 98 diesel

I have been thru 3,

2 were the wrong ecm that go under the dash

I need the ecm that bolts to the motor!

I located one, but it is too new by one month so the motor runs too lean.

Can anyone direct me to cummins diesel used parts salvage?

Can't seem to find any.

ecm code J90140. 01

D/C 04/06/98

Thanks for the help!!!

They are occasonally available on E-Bay Motors >parts & accessories >car&truck > computer, chip, cruise control> engine computer. You'll have to wade through a lot of items as the search doesn't break down far enough to go right to Cummins ECM's

I think the dealer may be able to reprogram a good ECM with the correct software for your truck, ;) or better yet have Bob set you up with one of Marco's reprogramed ECM's

PhilBarker,

What problems did you get with that ECM?

Reason I ask is... I've swapped 98ECM's with 99's several times, never a problem. Was the idle too low?

I think you got an Stick ECM and have a automatic transmission or vice versa...

My thoughts exactly the ECM on my truck is off a 2001 straight shift and I can tell no difference. Btw welcome to TDR Phil. If you will list your truck on your signature and tell us what the problem is someone on here will have been there done that.

Thanks

Tim

If you buy a 2001 with out cam sensor it will not rev past 1900 rpm and check engine light will come on and read cam sensor error! also if you get a stick ecm and put in a automatic truck the engine will idle too low and want to stall when you come to a quick stop and buck when you back up in reverse! I am experience this problem right now in my truck, I went to 2 dealers to get a reflash and both said they can not reflash my ecm computer to a automatic trans setup! so im just trying to get by until I find a 2000 auto ecm!

I picked up ECM for earlier Dodge than mine on ebay, it has three plugs on it instead of two.

If you can wait until Nov 10, You can have it for $30 plus a small postage charge.

JBlock,

The thing with three plugs is an PCM = Powertrain Control Module.

Not and ECM = Engine Control Module.

The ECM has only one 50 way plug.

Thanks, I thought it was 98-99 ECM, I just recheck the listing and it did say PCM, Look Like I got a spare. If anyone needs one.

Do you think a BD pressureloc would hold your Catcher with RV275, I have run both an EZ and Superchip Programer with RV275 seperately on the stock transmission with no problems yet. It i 2001 4x4 early model no rear disks
