Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) ecm swap

will a 98 ecm for a 5speed work on a 99 with a 5 speed? Just curious, I've found one for a decent price, and would like to purchase it, if it will work on my truck. I'm wanting a second ecm to start doing some playing around with the computer part of the truck.

I was searching for one for mine awhile back and If I'm corret there should be two numbers on the ECM - a part number (p/n) and a serial number (s/n). I believe one is about 6 or so numbers long and one is about a dozen or so long. If the two numbers match up on both ECM's then they will swap.

the simple answer is Yes. 98. 5 ecm make excellent swaps for the 99,
