Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fuel psi as start

with my setup, I'm looking for and economical add-on to do the boost fooling. Quadzilla has a boost fooler plug-n-play chip for 3rd gens, but not the 2nd gens. I also don't want anything super radical, so I am considering a used Edge EZ. Seems it would do what I want without tapping the wire, causing too much heat (egt's). I have already disconnected the wastegate from the turbo and it will run up to 30-35 p. s. i. but I keep getting the overboost code. Anyone have any other suggestions that would be similar.

I'm actually trying to find one for a guy also, he kept throwing an overboost code with the smarty and power puck, but hes gonna be going to the adrenaline so we will see happens there, I know they are out there for the 2nd gens but I can't remember who sells them off the top of my head.

The EZ has always been one of the standards the others are trying to beat by adding more easily on the fly adjustable features, etc. The upside is they are good boxes and have the built in boost fooler, and they are probably one of the best boxes for increasing fuel mileage out there. Some people will argue (I am one of them) because for an HO motor, they have given mixed results. Some people claim they are smooth all the way through the power range and add 1-2 mpg's cruising from its fairly aggressive timing increase. Some people have claimed some surging issues with the EZ/HO truck combo and also since the HO already has a higher compression ratio, adding a lot of timing can build cylinder pressures into the "yellow" zone when hauling heavy.

If you can find reasonable deal on one you should try it out and see how it works for you. If you're not happy there are always the classifieds. They have been a great way to get to try the different products out there and finally decide on what works for your likes.

I went with the EZ's milder little brother the True Torque Power Module. Its essentially the same box as the EZ except it is a little milder on the timing addition. It doesn't seem to cause the engine to make as much rattling noise from all that timing advance, and should give slightly less cylinder pressures while working the truck hard.

Hope that halps a little.

Prout, thanks for the info, I will look into the True Torque Power Module, is it an Edge product, I want something simple.

Mopartech, I was under the impression that the Smarty does the boost fooling as that is also one of my options I am researching.

HookMeUp, that would be great, but I don't have an automatic, I wish they had one for the 6 speed.

If you can afford a new module, I'd go with a XZT+, seems to be the best "mild" box out there right now. If you can't afford that, I'd pick up a used EZ or TTPM like Prout mentioned. You can find them supper cheap in the classifieds or on ebay right now. I got a used EZ just for the slight power and mileage boost. Once I can afford it, I'm getting an Adrenaline.
