Just ordered a set for my truck today. Last year and 30k miles ago I installed a set of Monroe Plus shocks. They went limp over time and Monroe has a lifetime warranty. I stopped in our local Advance Auto Parts store (previously Western Auto) where I bought the Monroes and the manager said he'd refund the cost of the Monroes toward the Edelbrocks. The Monroes were $26. each and the Edelbrocks are $77. 62 each. FWIW, Ranchos are $62. ~ each. They seem to have good prices there at Advance AP. I know some folks like them (Edelbrocks) and some say they're too firm. I'll give an honest opinion next week. The Monroes are about to jiggle me loose.

I'll go on record (again #ad
) stating I'm still very much satisfied with my Edelbrock IAS shocks. I've had these installed for over 39k mi. now... if I was facing the choice all over again I wouldn't hesitate to go with the IAS shocks. #ad

I agree with John 100% they do a great of steading the long wheel base truck, they may ride a little stiffer as you will see when you try to compress them and get the bolts in the shock towers up front.

I intstalled my Edelbrocks today! Man what a difference over the Monroes. Gone is the constant oscilation in the rear at 42mph. The ride is not stiff at all. Small bumps and those 1/4" thick paint stripes at intersections that used to start the spring board bounce are no more than a soft thudump. The installation took alittle more time than the Monroes. The gromets are fatter and fit very snug in their holders. I left the straps on and used a bottle jack to raise and lower the truck into the shocks. Once loosely bolted in I cut the straps and they stretched into place. Torqued the bolts to 100 ft/lbs and snugged the front tops down 'til the nut stopped and ready to go.

Steve, I talked to an Edelbrock engineer and he told me to snug the top bolts on the front shocks just enough to "slightly bulge" the rubber grommets. Don't know why but that was the advice.

By the way, I love my Edelbrocks too. You're right, they're not too stiff at all. In fact, I think I'll put a second set on the front of mine.

Kyle,
Did the folks at Edelbrock say anything about tire pressure? I still get alittle bounce in the rear axle if I run over a set of thick paint stripes perfectly spaced at 40-45mph. It's not a problem, and probably in the frame (spring board) rather than the shocks, but I'd like to set the tire pressure for the best performance with the Edelbrocks. Big bumps and dips, even rough railroad tracks, are taken without a harsh beating with the Edelbrocks. I'll be putting taller tires on next. More air (tire) between the road and the rim should soften the ride too.
