Those of you that have this, what do they show you and what do they not show that you would want to see? Meaning what extra gauges would you need/want? Also would it be safe to run this with an existing chip?

Nobody has anything to say? This is a new to me truck and I understand that the first thing that has been recomended many times here on TDR is gauges first. The truck already had the BullyDog chip when I got it. For the price of a few gauges it seems you could run the Attitude instead, but does it tell you what you would really want to know. Yes EGT is there but what else does it show or not show. I'm not asking is this a better product than this or that just would like some feedback from realworld users. If the other chip should go thats fine with me.

My truck had one one it when I bought it. You can set up the display to show up to 4 guages at one time, and you can choose between egt, boost, engine temp, transmission temp, speed, rpm and a few others I cant think of right now. My favorite thing about it is that it took care of most of the mods I wanted to do all in one package (and already on the truck!) It gave me the gauges, a bit more hp and torqe, a turbo cool down timer, the ability to recalibrate for differant tires and gears, read codes, and some other cool stuff. If the truck didnt already have it on there I deffinatly would have spent the $ and gotten one.

If you go look on their website and then click on the product your lookin to get, you can read the instruction manual for it which will tell you all of the settings it has, how much hp/torqe for each setting, and also the differant guages you can toggle between.

If you're looking for stand-alone gauges without a chip, then a Quad Commander is a much better option. There are provisions in the Commander to monitor fuel pressure and rail pressure which cannot be done with the Edge. Additionally, if you upgrade to an aftermarket turbo your Edge will only read up to the 40-ish psi your MAP sensor is capable of. Quad has optional fuel pressure kits and also a pressure sensor to read over 40psi of boost. Another thing to consider is that the Edge uses the OBD port under your dash to get information. You would have to unplug the gauge every time you want to change your tune...

What do you mean by "unplug the gauge every time you want to change your tune"? On mine you just hit the arrow buttons to change the tune to a higher or lower setting. Am I missing something?

If you're running a downloader you have to use the OBD port to change tunes.

The Attitude monitor gets its info from the same port. You have to unplug the Attitude cable to change programs.

Running the Attitude as a stand-alone monitor is not worth it. Too many trade-offs. The Quad Commander is much better, as it uses the engine's sensors and gives you the option of rail and fuel pressure too. No need to run a box/chip/downloader if you don't want to.

The Edge Juice with Attitude is a good combo, but I think it's a waste to run the Attitude by itself.

The budget woulnt really allow the Juice at least not yet, hence asking if it was safe to run with the existing chip. Eventually yes I'd get the Juice. It sounds like egt and fuel psi are the more important #'s to keep track of? Also sounds like the Attitude does not read fuel psi on the 3rd gen. I understood the Attitude to be on the fly adjustable? Am I mistaken? Boost is the psi of air entering the turbo? If your not drag racing is this something you need to see? I drove an 06 F-350 with a factory boost gauge but dont remember there being an egt.

The Attitude by itself is safe to run with an existing chip. Boost and EGT are the most important numbers to watch. Rail pressure and fuel pressure are the only parameters of interest that the Attitude doesn't monitor. Personally, I don't think they are very interesting parameters unless you plan on doing injectors and running a hot tune, although monitoring fuel psi can tell you when the fuel filter needs changing. The Attitude/Juice combo is on the fly adjustable. Boost is the psi of air entering the intake manifold of the engine. This is air that has *exited* the turbo, and passed through the intercooler. You should keep EGT below 1500 deg F. Boost is interesting to watch because it helps you understand the operation of the truck, but I haven't come across a lot of situations where you could actually get into an overboost condition with a single stock or street turbo yet, so I'm not sure you actually need to see it.

I currently have both the Commander and Attitude installed on my truck because I like seeing 8 parameters at a time. If I had to choose one, I would choose the Attitude. The display is a little sharper, but most importantly, because it plugs into the OBD port it will read and clear engine codes. I also like the turbo timer function and the performance measurements. The Attitude will display many more parameters than the Commander does, including RPM & MPH. I like MPH because the steering wheel blocks my view of the speedometer. I'd also strongly recommend the A-pillar mount instead of the overhead mount. The Attitude is very hard to read in daylight in the overhead position because it is so strongly backlit against the sky. I'm in the process of installing daytime frontlighting for my Attitude to help with the problem.

Unplugging the Attitude from the OBD port to plug in a programmer is no more difficult than unplugging a hair dryer from a wall. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks. What would an "overboost" sceneario be and what would it potentially harm? Sounds like this is not too much of a concern with a stock turbo? If eventually I ran the Attitude Juice combo with fuel psi and say a transmission temp gauge is there anything that you would really want to keep track of. I read a post were one member had I beleive 10 or 11 aux gauges, I'm thinking this is overkill? But to each his own.

The Edge monitors trans temp for you, so you really don't need an auxiliary trans temp gauge. I think trans temp should probably be below 190 unloaded and if it is making excursions over 200 while towing then you may want to add an auxiliary trans cooler, but check that number in the towing forum.

Overboost is much more of an issue with twin turbos. You could potentially blow your head gasket. If you were getting up to 50 psi, you'd want to consider head studs. The only overboost scenario I am aware of with a stock turbo involves the turbo wastegate sticking shut. The stock engine computer monitors for this scenario, but most of the aftermarket boxes such as the Attitude do something called boost fooling, where they trick the stock engine into thinking the boost is lower than it really is, which disables that safety check, so that's why you add a boost gauge.

If you had an Edge and fuel pressure gauge the only other thing you would be interested in is rail pressure, and that only becomes of interest when you go to larger injectors.

The more mods you make, the more you want to monitor. I monitor 10 parameters simultaneously above the dash, and yes, it is overkill -- but I'm a geek and I know it.

Thanks thats the info I was looking for. One more question, Who makes white faced black numbered gauges that MOST resemble the stock in dash gauges? Would like to keep the same visual effect through out the truck.

That would be the Di Pricol Optix line of gauges. Perfect match.
