Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this turbo? How big of a comp wheel and what turbo it is from, S300? What exhaust housings can you use with it and can you still run a turbo mounted brake? Pros and cons to it being a ball bearing? I tried to do some searchs, but no luck. TIA

No it is not a S300 framed turbo.

The compressor is a turbonetics T-58, with a 58. 4 mm inducer.

The turbine side is a 10 blade Q trim Turbonetics unit, non wastegated.

IIRC, the T-58 (according to turbonetics) has a mass flow of around 60 lbs/min, with a peak pressure ratio of 3. 8, I believe.

There is only 1 exhaust housing available with it. It does not use the same EX3 downpipe as the 35, so a turbo mounted EX brake isnt compatible. I believe the ex housing is even a full 4" exit.

You may try talking to a few of the guys running them to get opinions. I know Joe D runs one on his 3rd gen.

BTW, why do you have a 160 pump on a 98 truck?

Hey thanks for all the info. Doesn't sound like the right turbo for me since I want to go with a turbo mounted exhaust brake. I guess I will have to go with someones 35/40. The reason I asked about this turbo is b/c there is one on ebay right now if anyone is interested. Anyhow I have a 160 b/c the PO had one laying around and he removed the pump he was using for pulling sleds. I am always looking for a 887 or 913...

You could also use one of the EX3 outlet B-1 series turbos with a turbo mounted brake. A litle more costly than a 35/40, but probably worth the extra $$$

I am sure it would probably be worth the extra $. Do I have enough fuel to push a B-1. I don't know much about them. I am looking for a litttle more power than I have now, but my EGT's need to be adressed, even at the point I am at now. Also, I know this a probably a good question for PDR, but does their 35/40 at $695 or whatever include a housing? If I could get a couple two or three hundred for my 35 I wouldn't be out all that much.

Usually the 35/40 hybrid prices assume you are using your stock housing. so you can add another 150$ to the price if you go with a 16cm, even more if you go with a WG 14cm.

If your stock turbo is in good shape, HTT will turn it into a hybrid for cheaper than buying a whole unit.

I would think if you went with a KSB-1, or even a KSB-1B, you would be fine. Even a B-1-2 might spool ok with your setup, and then you would still have room to grow a little.

One of our local members just bought a BB JAmmer, so I will get to find out next week how well it spools.

Thanks for all the help. I may consider having my turbo turned into a 35/40, but that would mean my pickup would be down for a while. Anyways, I found a s300 on the internet that is brand new for about $400. It is a 62 mm and has a 115 ar housing on it that is not wastegated. What is a 115 housing anywasy and would it work for me? Would it be all that different from a HTB2 or does HTT do a lot to the s300 before they sell them as a HTB2? I realize that I probably would have to get a different downpipe and I could not use a turbo mounted brake right? TIA

im the member that bought the jammer so i will stay in touch and let you know how it goes!! it should be here wednesday, so ill talk to you soon!

I think most the S300's that are out there are like 57-59mm comp wheels, If I remember correctly. I believe the 300G is a 57mm. The mod'd versions have as large as a 66mm wheel.

A 1. 15 AR housing is a little large. That number corresponds to the ratio of the area of the volute with respect to the radius of the centerline of the volute from the center of the wheel. Kinda confusing in words, basically a larger A/R is equivalent to a large CM housing.

The other thing you need to make sure on the S300 is that it uses the same flange, and that you can get a downpipe. I've seen some 300's for sale that are T3 and some that are T4 flanges. I dont know what HTT or II do to their turbos to make them theirs, but it is probably a significant amount of work. I think HTT may clip the turbine wheel???

Oh yeah, you wont be able to use your ex brake, and a new DP will be required also.
