Recently installed Edge Comp. Question lack of smoke. I thought would blow more than it does. Figuring it is due to the Auto trans. Had failing lift pump. 8 idle, 5 70 floor it with Comp 0psi if anything ? x 5.

Installed new lift pump. Major PITA! Studs threaded loosed from pump, not the nuts. Anyway... .

After new pump install, now have 15 idle, 13 cruising, suck it down to 8 psi on 5x5 floored. Question is lack of smoke. Power is good and it does smoke, but just a few seconds of gray haze no real black stuff. Maybe just a brief black balloon size then just gray haze. Although this is a good thing for performance, it means I ain't got enough fuel! Pyro can hit 1200's floored but can't get it past 1250 even floored going up hills in 5x5.

Sound right? I thought it would smoke more? I thought it would run hotter?

either the comp is shot or you have a bad pump wire connection

which method did you use to tap the pump wire? did you tap the right wire?

I used the supplied scotch lock. It fuels more, I assume on lvl 5 vs lvl 1 due to smoke. Don't smoke at all on lvl 1 or 2. Minimal smoke on lvl 5. It'll smoke for about 5 secs, but no real dark. Just gray stream after initial littel black puff ball. Pulls alot harder on lvl 5, than lvl 1 though. ACtually can tell a difference with all the different lvls. Seems to have a good wire connection. I was going to pull it off tonight to check the insualtion to assure it pierced. I tapped the wire closest to the block of the two going into the pump.

I have all the levels on ? x 5. yes, the sub level is on 5 also. It might be my perception of "alot" of smoke. I was just under impression it would generate lots of smoke on 5 x5 with my stock turbo.

you should be able to blow some major black soot, something not right :(

good luck, edge has great customer service :)

Spoke with Arin/Erin at Edge. If you can tell it is faster on the higher levels that this is a good thing. Your Turbo is doing what it is supposed too. He said I just need some bigger injectors! I agreed. DDIII's coming at ya!

I'll try to get a pic of the smoke show so ya'll can see what I am talking about... .

Thanks for the help..... I love you guys... I know, I still can't have your Suds!

What did you do to earn that name. Wait maybe I don't wanta know. Anyways mine did the same. Dropped in some RV 275s and let the smoke show begin. However the smoke show I got out at the local track a weekend ago, man those guys got smoke.

My smoke looks like the very top right hand part of your smoke cloud. The part with the SKY as the background. Just thought it would smoke more than it does. I think injectors will help!

I like the handle Piston Slapper as this is why diesels sound like they do. I always loved the sound of a diesel. Especialy a real Diesel like ours. The combustion process of the fuel smacking the piston. Gives it that knock! Love it! Yeah, it's a diesel, a good ol piston slapper!

Like somebody said here before, "That thing sounds like the pistons are trying to swap holes!" I was all :D!

I can make a bit of smoke with stock injectors. Gap, did I do any smoke puffs on our joy ride at dyno day?

I clears up really quickly with boost.

You and I both need 'jectors!

That's what was making me think about it Wade. Yours smokes more than mine does. I think it is normal because I have an Auto and you manual. You can easier control RPMS to force smoke where as my Slushie makes the decisions for me. It's hard to lug an Auto... .

It's hard to sneak 100HP injectors $$$$ past "She Who Must Be Obeyed"!

The quote "well they might seem to cost a lot but i will get better fuel mileage with these injectors". LOL

She is impressed now by the comp. Little computer usually showed 18. 9 mpg average, which was correct. It now shows 20. 8-21. 0 now. She thinks it's working...

I guarantee it ain't getting that with me driving!

I bet some 100hp injectors would make it show 23mpg. She might bite?

100hp injectors

Ordered mine today!:D

Will be happy to report the HP/TQ AND mileage gains ASAP. ;) And for the record I'm filling up tomorrow after running a tank on 4x5 and 5x5 exclusively. Should come in around 17. 5-18. 5.

Smoke should be UP too! :-laf

GOOD GAWD, I embarrass ME. I've got more smoke on 1x5 now than I had on 5x5 then.

Wussup Gap, didja get any smoke yet? Bring that thang over here, let me show you how to make clouds. Oo.

Oh, that mileage thing. I got 19. x, now to see what the 3's do to it. It's NOT GOOD right now. I'm still playing with it and had to re-seat the clutch. She's a holding now. Thanks Peter.
