Hi, Im ditching the 100 hp injectors that were in my truck and going to rv275's. The truck also has a superchips flashpaq (3855). Not really too fond of it, had an older superchips on my 99 I didnt really care for, it came with the truck and went with it too. Planning on getting an edge comp to go with the new injectors. Is this a pretty safe combo? Not wanting to swap the stock turbo, just decent, safe towing power. Only thing Im a little worried about is tapping the wire. Last time I did that I took out an injection pump, that was a quadzilla unit I had on my 99, but I was 21 and put it on a bone stock truck too with no fuel pressure gauge to boot. Also, from what Ive read, the 3855 flashpaq unit will work on 98. 5-07 5. 9's? I am going to try it on my dads 03 before I advertise it on craigslist as such.

I know 2 people with that same combo and they are very happy with it. One of them has been running it for app 7 years. They make good clean power as does the Smarty. If you tap the pump you will wind up with more HP than the Smarty but the torque for pulling is comparable IMO. Which is whats important to me. The only thing you may want to look into is the quality and customer service if considering a new one. I think Ive seen a few people on here lately thats not been satisfied with either.

I have seen a couple of used ones, but for the price they are going for used it is about a no brainer to get a new one that has some kind of warranty, if the customer service is decent, not sure. I have noticed a few rants on just about every kind of tuner,(and every other kind of aftermarket product for that matter) there is bound to be some duds out of the millions sold Im sure, so Im not too terribly worried about that. I believe in purchasing from a reputable vendor.

i have that combo on my truck, it runs & pulls good. ive been running it for about 6 years with no problems other than a toasted trans. the wire is tapped. i can get 30#'s of boost with stock turbo. i pull a 10k lb. enclosed trailer and the egt's will get up there when climbing a long hill. i only run the edge on 3x3 when pulling. check my sig. if you want to see what is done to my truck.

I have pretty much that same combo on my truck, along with a full 4-inch Rip Rook exhaust - truck is used primarily as an RV tow vehicle - power mods and dyno results down there in my sig, and at about 15,000 GCW, get around 17 MPG towing, and 27 empty. I run the Comp at 1x1 empty, and 3x3 when towing in the hills - LOTS of power!

Gary did you notice any difference when you installed the stainless intake? i still have the stock intake. ive been thinking about putting one on my truck but have read mixed reviews.

i had the edge juice and 80hp injectors on my 01 and it was a little hot and smokey, but easily turned down enough to contol temps towing. the 275s are a little smaller and cleaner than what i had so you should be fine. you may have to drive by the egt gauge at times, but overall it's a common, powerful, and verstile setup. you will like it much better than what you currenly have.

NO, can't say I notice any difference in power with the custom intake horn - but I'm sure it doesn't hurt either - and sure looks purtier than the OEM piece - the grid heaters were removed as well, and replaced with DTT's custom adapter:

When pushed to the max, I have seen the boost PSI just above the 30 PSI mark on my gauges - but at normal 60 MPH cruise even when towing up the grades, boost is usually no more than around 20 PSI.

With the total power mods, I have NO issues with EGT, which rarely sees above 1200 degrees on the Comp highest settings, and on longest, steepest grades when towing our 24 ft. Kit 5er. I ran the Smarty stacked with the Comp for a while, but when set for best observable power, EGT's got too high, and too much smoke for the OEM turbo, and I didn't want to go to a larger turbo, so sold the Smarty - In fairness to the Comp/Smarty stack, along with the rest of my mods, on my NV-5600 manual transmission, I could break the rear tires loose when I mashed the loud pedal in 4th gear up a grade empty! ;)

The Comp does the job just fine for me and my usage, and I never have to frantically monitor the EGT's for fear of too much heat... !
