Edge Comp settings

Oo. I just got my DTT TC ,VB, and transmission upgrade kit installed (Thanks, Inarush) . I also got my edge comp installed with no pump wire yet (installation was compliments of inarush). My question is: Do the different power levels and settings make any difference without the pump wire hooked up. I ask this because I've been told that it doesn't, but it seems like it does

It don't, basicaly you have an EZ. If you don't hook up the pump wire that is. This has been proven on a dyno, several times. Sub level do work but you don't get more fuel, just when you get the fuel.

Direct from one of the Edge reps on the Edge forum pages:



"Power Level 1 on the Comp is the same as the EZ, on Power Levels 2-5 addition power is added via the wire tap onto the VP44 injection pump. If the pump wire is not attached with a Comp Levels 2-5 can be ran, but the power gain is not any higher than Level 1, the power will come in much earlier in the throttle but overall gain is the same. "

It won't change your increase any, but yes it is still fully functional and adjustable. If you are on power level one you will get the same increase as level 5, but it starts a little sooner, not much but it does. There is a good post on Edge's forums that explains it better.



For now though, set your power level on one and sublevel on 5 and see how much you smoke. Then set it on power level 5 and sublevel 5 and see how much it smokes. It will be less on power level 5 because it starts increasing your timing earlier on.



If the power level adjustments did nothing without the pump wire hooked up, then the smoke results would be identical. So basically, you are running a glorified, adjustable EZ.

Can you turn it off so you are running stock values for say bad weather?

Yes, you can. However, provided you do install the boost elbow you will still be able to achieve higher boost than stock. The box still functions as a boost fooler when it is turned off though.
