ATS transmission? Feedback Please

Some new info on oil additives

I cannot find the directions for hooking up the wire on my comp. box.

I did a search and found a link to Edge Prod. web site but the page is not there.

Keep in mind please that I don't know much about this motor.

A diagram would be great!

Thanks,

Stan

Somewhere floating around this group, there's a drawing of the pump wire and its location - but I couldn't find it to provide a pointer...

ANYWAY, there are a pair of wires right at the top/rear of the VP-44 that exit the top of the pump, and TIGHTLY run down vertically to a location lower on the pump - I dunno exactly where to - the exposed portion is only several inches long and a real BI+CH to get to on some pumps due to lack of needed slack to access and assault the REAR (closest to the engine) wire in the pair that are VERY enclosed in an outer protective jacket - they then must be pulled apart enough to get to the proper one...

That portion was the hardest of the entire install for me - and there was no way I could use the supplied Scotchlock, even if I had wanted to - instead, I carefully pierced the wire with a small very sharp awl, right thru the insulation and inner wires, and carefully threaded a solder-tinned wire thru the opening, crimped it as tightly as possible, taped it - with equal difficulty - and then secured everything with a nylon cable tie pulled as tight as I could get it - so far, it is working gteat...

It's all worth the effort - I just wanted to prepare you - good luck!

Thank You Gary!!!

I will give it a try in the morning.

I found the original instructions from Edge.

if you take the plug off the back of the vp44 you can get to the wire alot easier, it will also give u a better idea of the wire they are taking about when they say that it comes froms the middle of the injection tubes, when u get it all apart u will c the plug on the vp44 right next to the wire you need to work with, the plug has a slide lock on it, u should c the "T" handle on the plug, pull this out about an inch and then remove the plug, this should give u plenty of room to get to the wire;) i did this same install about a month ago, hook up the wire and let the good times rolls!!:D :D :D

Just get a BlueChip cover. Much easier to install that way and you never have to worry about your connection. When you order the cover tho, ask your dealer to include the #25 TorxPLUS tamperproof bit. You most likely will never find one locally. This only applies to 2001-2002 and any truck that a dealer has changed out the VP44 on.

I used the "Grabber" from "Grainger Industrial Supply" to connect the 'Comp' wire.

It comes in a package of 2 for about $30. 00. I now have the extra one if anyone is interested. It works perfect the first time.

Blue Chip cover is a more secure way to connect the Comp box to the VP44 pump wire. Actually more stealthy also, but I wouldn't count on that to circumvent warranty repairs. It basically replaces the cover over the VP44 with a plastic cover that has a pointed set screw that is correctly positioned to pierce the pump wire accurately. There are quite a few distributors of this product including Piers or you can order it directly from BlueChip at www.bluechipdiesel.com. As stated before, if for a 2000-2001, have them include the proper Torx bit. Tell them what year truck you have.

Hope this helps,

Roger
