Oil change required after 1200 miles??

Turbo questions...spooling and drive pressures

I have had my Edge insight CTS monitor (monitor only, stock program) for a few thousand miles, but the DPF status on the monitor never changes from "off". Every so often the 3 exhaust temps go to around 1100-1200 deg (typically around 500-700), but the monitor still reads DPF status "off". I would assume I am actually regen'ing, but the monitor is not showing it.

I have done two updates online on the monitor (the last one a few weeks ago), but that has not changed anything.

I just spoke with a tech at Edge (picked up phone promplty and was very nice) who said the monitor is only reading the signal from the truck and it sounds like the monitor is working fine.

The monitor is great in every other way and I am really happy with it, but could there be something wrong with the truck? I have had check engine lights come on and the monitor read those just fine and all other functions appear to work including the backup display... although I have a cheapy camera hooked up to it.

No current codes on the truck and it still has the stock program... so yes, I still have the DPF on the truck (so far).

Any thoughts?

Oh, which exhaust temp is nearest to the engine the Nox, Doc, or the Dpf... probably not the DPF, but I am really not sure.

Thanks

Drive it like you stole it with the Wilderness attached and you'll be fine. Stop and go to get a pack of smokes and the regen mode will make the exhaust burble and the temps go up and up and the mileage down and down. How many miles on the truck?

I'm assuming your truck is auto trans and single rear wheel?

Ken

PS I have no monitors... yet.

Got a whoppin' 20k miles so far on the truck since I bought it new. About 1/2 are pulling the trailer. I was able to just break 15k lbs combined weight last trip on my first time across the scales. I tow about 70-75 mph on the interstates (when posted) and hit a lot of mountians in NM and CO so it gets a good workout now and then. I really can forget I am pulling with that small of a trailer until the cross winds get a hold of it. I mostly use it pulling the TT and drive it to work about 1-2 times a week (about 15 minutes at highway speeds) and 15 city traffic.

Oh yeah, it is a single rear wheel 2500 auto.

I am not too concerned, but wanted to check since everything seems fine. I have only had 1 DPF, 1 EGR and a few sensors replaced so far. My plan is to delete once the 5 year engine warranty is up (still 1 year to go) but figure I would help the ozone for now. Still hoping to get a turbo replaced under warranty!

I had a problem with my first CTS. EDGE sent me another one. It took care of the startup problem. It still doesn't show torque converter lockup and regeneration. I had a series of Emails with Edge on the last one. I think it's time to send one on this one.

I had the same problem with not showing the torque converter lockup and not showing regeneration with the old one.

I think I'll send another Email to Edge. Why don't you too? If enough people complain, then they'll realize there is a problem.

Newt

PS: When there's a problem, I like to have it in writing! :)

Thanks for the help with the ozone! The DPF does make for a sparkle shiny exhaust pipe! My 08 has 97. 5K now with occasional towing at GVW of 20-25K. I deleted at 92K, was sick of paying for all that fuel!

Cheers,

Ken

I talked with Edge, and they seemed to be concerned, but thought it was a problem with the truck. When I asked if they had seen this issue before, they said no. Mine reads the gear and TC lockup just fine. I have not tried all the other options, but all others I have wanted to use work great. I would think a program update would be as good as replacing the unit, but what the heck do I know?

I am not too concerned since watching the EGTs tells me when I am in regen, but would like it all to work. I think if I was driving for several thousand miles without a regen, I would have gone thru more DPFs than my one!

Update:

Got an email the other day from Edge indicating they had fixed the issue and to do an update to the Insight online. I did that and now both TCL and DPF Status work!

Chris

My Email must have gotten lost in the mail. :)

When I talked to customer service about TCL & DPF, they tried to say it was something wrong with my truck.

Newt

Yeah, that was the same response I got back in Oct was that it was probably my truck. The tech then said he would set it up to capture my program the next time I plugged into the computer so it could be reviewed by thier programing group. I uploaded it to them that day. Then heard nothing and gave up on it since I could still tell the regen status by the exh temps and really didn't care too much about the TC status. Guess they finally figured it out and sent me the email out of the blue!

I would contact Edge again and explain the problem in a detail that even a total rock could understand. If you drive with enough load on the engine, like pulling and at highway speeds the exhaust temps could get high enough not to trigger a regen, but it should with light loads or when just tooling around. I would think that if it was the truck not regening, you would get a code and a message in the evic about a dpf issue by now. If the computer calls for a regen, the CTS should see it. Newt, I have a problem with startup on my CTS as well. It works very well, but it drops out after the intake heaters cycle off and goes to a white screen. What was your issue with startup?

Larry

That's been a while. I don't really remember. I just downloaded the new update and everything is working now. Try updating.

Newt

Thanks for the update information. I'm having the same issue with my CTS and got the same run around from Edge that nothing was wrong with the CTS. I'll be installing the upgrade tomorrow to see if it fixes the regen display.

My CS2, REGEN Status always say off, nothing to tell me REGEN is occurring, Despite towing, temperatures stayed around 800. However, my DEF levels is dropping, indicating I am doing a REGEN. I also updated the software and still no go. Tech support, only trying to sell me the juice unit, tells me those features not available. I can't recommend EDGE, the CS2 is only a year old product and has less feature support than originally advertised. Have no intention of buying or trading in the unit to them. I notice they have added a pro version, not sure what it does, but not going to bite. They have disappointed me too often.
