anyone know how much rwhp gain is supposed to be made for each level,,1 thru 5 ?

reason i'm asking is i dyno'ed the other day to compare the new mach 6's to the bully dog 6's i did have installed and also dyno'ed each level on the drag comp and found i only made a increase of 48rwhp from level 1 to level 3

i also found that i made an extra 10hp on level 4 for a total gain of 58hp and "0"/none additional when switched to level 5(same as level 4).

all levels were set at 5 on sub levels.

this was the first time i dyno'ed each level. i installed the drag comp in 2002 along with injectors and a hx40 and only got to see the total gain of the 3 additions combined which were actually low.

most likely the comp was bad from day one.

i'll be calling edge for a box check. i've heard they are great to deal with as far as standing behind their products.

i was just wondering if the level 1 to 4 gain i get was in the ballpark?

new numbers below in sig are with the comp box issues stated above.

Comps go bad on a regular basis. I'm on #3 in 2 years right now, and it's iffy once in a while (on the fritz). I had one that made more power on level 2 than it did on 5x5 before I got rid of it. Edge will replace with no questions asked if you call them. Tell 'em your pickup doesn't run worth a crap w/o the Comp (as mine doesn't... need the extra timing) and they'll overnight a new one to you for free, then you return the old one with their pre-paid label. Granted, you do have to give them a CC number for just in case you decide you need a comp for free, they can charge you an exhuberant amount for it (way more than retail from any dealer).

Don,

I never dynoed on each level... ... But when I dynoed back in October my truck made 144 more HP with the box on level 5 then with it off. This was running Formula 1 Mach 6 injectors.

Don's injectors are desinged to be run with a fueling box, so I would expect more of a gain then you saw.

forgot to add too, Denis and I (both pickups in sig) swap comps constantly to see if the drag vs. standard makes a difference. Last time we did, his was being a POS and mine was nearly brand new. I ran his for 3 days and went and stole mine back as it was so bad... no spool, tons of smoke (no advanced timing I think). I still don't think he's got his replaced... it just doesn't run right, and it's obvious when you have a good one on there.

On my last Dyno I only made 3hp from 3x5 to 5x5 but the difference with the box off and 5x5 was 100hp so I guess it is working oh and mine is a HO so only expect 100-110hp

Is one of the signs of a Edge Comp drag going bad... . Not making any smoke. A friend of mine has an 00' CTD and now it just doesnt smoke anymore. I would think that on 5x5 like it was the other day towing aprox 3,000 lbs the moderate rate at which he was accelerating would have produced at least a haze. It used to smoke like heck on 5x5.

He recently replaced a Map sensor... . and thats when it stopped smoking... . anyone have any thoughts?

i don't know if its my truck or the comp box, but most of the time my truck hardly makes any smoke and then sometimes it will just blast it out like a coal burning train, thats on level 3x5 without touching anything,

Not take this thread too far off subject, but Snowracer what are the diffs between Comp and Standard???? I know the functional diffs but what kind of performance diffs do you see?

egt's. super-duper extra hot egt's! There is no defueling on the top end, so normally when the standard comp will pull back at 2700 RPM or so, the drag just keeps pouring the fuel in there making her extra toasty. With Denis' standard I can hit 1450*F... with the drag I hit 1600*F easily and it just keeps climbing from there.

We run nearly side-by-side though (back when he had M3. 7's, before he got the 4's) so I'm not sure that the drag gives an edge or not. We only raced once when he got his 4's and they had 0. 8 miles on them at the time so they weren't quite 100% yet, and we were still side-by-side. Note though that he almost always weighs 500 lbs more than me.

Oh, also, we race/live at 4000' elevation. Down in Phoenix the other night at 1200' I maxed at 1575*F at the very top end of my 1/4 mile runs. I was also running ~52psi boost at the shift into 4th too.

Thanks, I'm looking to upgrade to a comp right now. Just debating if I should go with the drag, or standard... ... Not much diff in $$$ but easier to find the standard, used.

Then after the 1st of the year DTT will be getting a call so I can pierce the wire..... :D

A member just ordered a CaTCHer ecm this morning and he is selling his comp, if you would like his name, shoot me a PM
