I installed my Edge EZ in my truck this morning and had a little trouble getting one of the connectors connected the Edge wiring harness. It looks like they used an older connector that had two ridges on it that don't fit in the '03's. The ridges had been cut partially off to fit the connector better but it wasn't enough. I took a file to the ridges and brought them down smooth with the connector. Anyway, it was still difficult to seat the connector so I turned it around (thinking maybe it was a different connector and was backwards) and it fit better but, of course, the truck would not start. So, I turned the connector back around properly and pushed it pretty hard and it finally seated most of the way.

Anyway, everything runs fine now (including the extra power!) but the check engine light is on. How do I reset the light and the associated code that's in the computer? Will disconnecting the battery reset everything or am I going to have to have someone go in to the computer to reset it?

Parshal, it should clear itself after several startup & shutdown cycles, if it's like the 2G 24-valves.

What you are saying about the connector doesn't bode a lot of confidence in the Edge box for the new Ram :(

The light did go off after the 5th startup. Will that clear the code from the computer, too? I figured the light would go off but the code would stay until reset. Not true?

With regard to the connector, I would guess that it's a connector that they had many of and were getting rid off. It fits once the ridges are filed off and they filed very quickly and easily. It's just a very tight fit.

I'm running this box on an SO engine and it's got more power for sure now than the HO that I test drove. I left my box on the default setting of level 2 and turbo lag is gone. It's amazing. It does seem to raise EGT's a little bit but not much. There's a touch of smoke at startup and a bit more if you lay into it but, other than that, there's not much smoke. I may change to level 1 and level 3 to play around with it and see the power/smoke changes.

Maybe they were using left-over connectors from previous models? Mine never would have fit had I not filed off the two ridges. They had been file/cut down a little but not enough.

Re: Re: Edge Box

Heck, now I'm really wondering what I've got! The box the EZ came in says '03. I tried to install the boost elbow and the barbed end is too long by a fraction. I had to take a jeweler's saw and remove the first barb (now the same length as the original) so that I could screw it in without hitting the turbo. Very strange but it works great.

I'm guessing no one else has had these problems, have they?

I have had the same problems you did. You would think that Edge could put the right connector on wouldn't you? And give us a boost elbow that doesn't need to be cut . For crying out loud they know where the boost elbow has to fit don't they? I'm happy with the performance of the product but a little disappointed with their attention to detail. For the code you set, as far as I know the code will still be in the computer. It can be erased with an OBD II with an erase button feature. ( Auto Zone can do this for you ). Good luck!

P. S. I sent an email to Edge over a week ago now, with a few questions I had. I have had NO RESPONSE!!!!!!!!!

parshal, I had the same two issues you did with my box. I did the same thing you did with the boost elbow which worked fine. I did have a problem with the box causing an rpm surge at idle. Sent the box back to them and they sent me a new replacement box which still has the incorrect fuel pressure sensor connector. When I inquired about the incorrect connector, I was told the correct style was not available at the time the box was made available, but there was so much demand for the box the decision was made to send it out with the "modified" connector. I was told Edge is working on making the correct connector, and when it becomes available it would be made available to those who have the "modified" style. So far I am very pleased with the box and with Edge customer support. parshal, just a side note. You may want to check to see if yours is really set to level 2, my understanding when reading the directions is that the default setting is actually level 3. I have mine set to level 2 upon the recommendation of Rod at Wildcat Diesel (due to 47RE trans), and it is more than enough power for my intended purposes. I have not yet driven a 48RE/HO truck, but for the investment I have in the Edge EZ, I have no desire to do so as I am sure my truck would meet or exceed that performance level.

I'll check the level today. Thanks for the heads up. If this is indeed level 3 I can't believe there's not more smoke!

I haven't had the idle problem but I'll keep an eye out for that.

OK, I opened the front cover to see what level it's set at and it doesn't look like any of the jumper settings in the owner's manual. The jumper on the left is in the middle and the jumper on the right is in the leftmost position. If I look at the module upside down (with the circuit board on the top) it looks like level 3 but that's not how the owner's manual says to look at it. Of course, Edge closed 10 minutes ago! I swapped the jumpers to level 4 and it definitely had less power than the setting with which it came. I put it at level 1 and it felt stock again. At level 2 it felt pretty darn good and I couldn't get the EGT's as high as with the setting it came with.

I remember someone posting something a while back about there being a 5th setting. I'll have to search through the archives for that.
