2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Is it too loud?

I just took the first ride after installing an EZ. I think it has reduced engine noise on the highway. Am I right or dreaming?

Yep You're Dreamin.

I just put mine back in to test your theory. Its actually louder but the noise is so much less once you get to hwy speed and stop accelerating it just seems quieter. Also , the colder it gets out side the noiser it gets. I usually dont run mine in the winter unless Im toing just because the noise is so annoying. I drove alcan a few weeks ago and wore ear plugs tho whole way.

Love the power hate the noise

I remember back when the VA was the only timing box available, and several people that installed them noticed less motor "rattly" noise on idle.

Im not sure if it is true or not, but I think there is a difference in sound.

Since the EZ advances the injection timing, most people report more combustion "rattle" with the EZ. Mine was somewhat noisier with the stock injectors. It's really noisier with the DD2's. Frankly, I'm thinking about springing for a TTPM to get the fueling without such aggressive timing - especially since we tow heavy (21,180 GCW/21,500 GCWR) with an HO.

When I upgraded my fuel lines I had inadvertently pulled a wire out of the EZ datalink plug. My first indication that something was "wrong" was how quiet the engine was and how smooth it felt. Fixed the wire and got my rattle back.

When I put in my EDM Mach 2s I also unplugged my EZ (purposely this time) to attempt to save the stock clutch. The engine has never run smoother.

I'm with you, Rusty. I'm gonna replace the EZ with one of DD's boxes to get the reduced timing. I'm probably gonna get the UFM for the in-cab controllability (the extra 100hp would be a nice bonus, too). Oo.
