Seriously, do you guys not worry about warranty at all or, if something shells, do you remove the box and hope for the best? I thought someone on the site said the dealerships would definitely be able to tell if a box had been plugged in at some point. I want to get one so bad my n**s hurt but my skirt it obviously too damn big. I just keep thinking how great it would be to have to pick up the tab for replacing injectors, 5600, etc.

I definately worry about warranty but the overriding factor is that I cannot live with the amount of power the truck has stock. Plus I also have a good working relationship with a local dealership technician. If I had the money I'd pull my single car trailer with a Peterbilt 387 with a Signature 600 and an 18 speed... ... then BOMB that. Since that is not an option the Dodge Cummins works wonderfully.

I have always had pretty poor service from the local dealer. I am not too worried about the truck blowing up. I have 01 with 50 thousand miles on it and it runs at about 450+ hp everyday. I am my own warranty station. Besides, If I have to replace the injectors, I'm gonna go BIG!

I'm salivating at buying a chip (I've got things from my basement for sale on eBay to raise money!) but I'm a little worried about the warranty issues and running without adding extra gauges. Greg has posted his results with extra gauges and the EZ but I'm curious if others can post similar results.

If memory serves me correct, the only thing I've seen with regard to the '03 EZ and codes is that you can remove the chip and disconnect the batteries for a few minutes to clear codes (or something under the dash). Someone mentioned that disconnecting the batteries throws a code that lasts for 50 startups. Is there another code thrown in this scenario? Has anyone added a chip, removed it and checked for codes?

Also, I'll be adding the EZ to a standard output engine and, from what I can tell, most are adding it to the HO. I wonder how different EGT's will be with the standard engine and the EZ on the highest setting.

OBD II

Parshal: I ran my EZ for a week then checked for codes with an OBD II. The scan showed no codes and I have had no check engine light. Maybe a tech out there could tell us if the DRB III can read tell tail codes the OBD II can't. ( over boost, or fuel pressure to high).

I wonder if pulling the EZ, running the truck and checking the codes again would bring up any codes. Just a thought.

I have a friend who's been working on an opensource project at sourceforce to come up with a new reader and he was saying that the DRB III won't pick up other codes that the OBD II won't. So, it sounds like we're golden.

Boost Elbow?

I've been reading a few more post regarding the EZ and I see mention of a boost elbow. What does installing the EZ one accomplish? I'm sure this is a stupid question.

the boost elbow blocks the wastgate actuator from seeing little, if any boost.

the little bit of extra boost, will help keep the EGT in check from the little bit of extra fuel.

You can only go so far with boost pressures on a certain turbo, after that PSI, you only superheat the air, extra boost from that point is counter-productive, you are "Off the Map".

If I can assume corectly that point is around 35PSI for an HX-35, and a little lower for the '03's HY-35.

If you start pushing alot of fuel, best bet is to upgrade the turbo.

I ran my HX-35 at 35-36PSI for a long time, I didn't have turbo problems,, but I did have ALOT of EGT.

This is my $. 02

Well, I installed my EZ this morning and ran it for 125 miles today. I've left on level 2 for now. A few things I've noticed so far. Before the boost elbow installation, when running at 75 mph with the cruise on level ground EGT's are a bit cooler than without the EZ by about 50 - 75 degrees. Max boost is now about 22. 25 psi whereas it was 22 psi before the box. The EGT's go up much quicker now than before. Before the box, the max EGT's I could get were 1100 and now it hits 1200 on the same hills pretty fast. With the boost elbow, boost reaches 28. 25 psi and EGT's are peaking at 1100 instead of 1200. I have yet to tow with it and haven't taken it to the mountains so I'm real interested to see performance on the "big" hills.

I'll say that I'm scared to put it on level 3 or 4 for one reason. If the EGT's get too high to run or tow in the rockies I won't want to bring it back to level 2 since I'll be used to all that power! I can't believe the power just set on level 2.
