I've been running my Edge EZ on my truck for about a year, and never modified the boost pressure via the elbow (didn't come with the edge, because I bought it used, and the previous owner didn't include it). The owners manual states, that the edge box will work equally as well with out, the boost mod installed. I'm confused because of this.

If I buy the elbow and increase my boost (now peaks at 20 psi), will I then increase my performance?

thanks,

Jon

By installing the boost elbow, you'll cut down on smoke and EGT's at WOT. More air doesn't make more power unless you're overfueling. More air allows you to add more fuel - the added fuel makes more power.

OR, to put it another way, why bother installing a box that increases fueling, if yer not gonna put in the extra AIR needed to efficently burn it?

jebia,

If I'm not mistaken, you don't need(or can't use) the boost elbow with an auto. I think there is a hardline on the wastgate. You can achieve the same thing with the turnbucle mod that many people, including myself, have done.

I hope I'm on the right track and not leading you in the wrong direction. Someone with a lot more knowledge then me will jump in, especially if i'm wrong.

Take care,

Chris

P. s. Welcome to the TDR. I am very new myself, but I have already become addicted to this place. Soooo much info, and good people too.

the boost elbow will not work on 2001 and up auto's i think but don't quote me on that. although according to his sig. the elbow will work on that year.

Jon... I see you have gauges, so I assume your watching them. The EZ is not an aggressive mod, but you might run into high temps on a steep hill, under heavy load (ie towing). The increased boost will help to keep temps down. Also, you have an auto, so the boost elbow will not work in your truck. You will have to do the turnbuckle mod, or 22 shell, or something similar to increase your boost... Have fun... ;)

I don't recall when they went to the hard line. Most of these posts are talking 2001 and I see by your sig that you have a 2000. I have a '99 auto. The boost elbow makes all the difference in the world.

the boost elbow will work on that year truck with the auto cause it's the same as mine and the elbow worked on mine.

jebia, give me a pm, i may have a few elbows laying around,if you want one. Anyone who's recommending a 22 shell or a turnbuckle needs to do there homework before trying to give advice, since the 2000 auto has an HX35.

Wow, Snowman... You sure put us in our place... Your absolutely correct. I didn't remember that the 2000 had the HX35... It's sure great to have guys like you on the TDR that can correct all our errors... Have a nice day... ;)
