well here's the problem, i tried a ez on my truck a couple months ago. it's a 2000 2500, LB, auto, QC, 4x4 no other mods. the end result was the torque converter started slipping at the end of the first week so i removed it. torque converter is fine without. i had about 1000 lbs. in the bed this past weekend and everthing was fine. the qustion is could i put 275's in alone and not do any mods the transmisson and it would hold the little extra power. i don't pull anything other then a small boat a couple times a year. and i don't hot rod around. i was thinking the 275's are a less punch the the box and the auto would be able to hold it. i don't really need the extra power but just would like it.

275s

You wouldn't feel the 275s at all. The computer is set for 21 psi max boost, after that it would start to defuel and you just lost the power that the 275s are making. So if i were you i would upgrade the transmission and put the ez back on or leave it alone just like it is.

I ran mine

with just the 275s and didn't like it. There is a slight difference but not as much as you would think. My opinion is if you don't want to modify the trans leave it stock. I will say the EZ and 275s are a great improvment from stock and have not caused me any problems . YET??

You need to move the jumper on the EZ down to the 1 position. If you move it there, you will have the available power when you want it, and the transmission will live.

I recently moved mine from 3 to 1. True, it doesn't have the INSTANT response like it did before, but I actually like it this way. It's MUCH easier to drive it smoothly, MUCH easier on the clutch, and all that. Not to mention that your mileage will go up. The 3 setting is a little too aggressive on the fueling, and often gives you more fuel than you need or want, hurting your fuel economy.

On the aggressive setting, I felt like my truck had terrible fuel pedal feel-- the first little bit of travel was very aggressive, and then the last bit of pedal travel was useless. It basically hit full fuel at half pedal- annoying. The least aggressive setting is much preferable in that regard.

I like the kick of the aggressive position (3), but I figure that I won't miss it when I install my DD2s this weekend:D :D

I put the 275's in mine and could tell quite a bit of difference, also better fuel mileage. Upgrading stuff is fine, but it is kind of like drag racing. Speed costs how fast do you want to go? I think you would be satisfied with 275's. Just my thought!

I installed 275's in a 98. 5 Auto at 95K miles. The truck definately had more power pulling close to 10,000 LBs. nearly every weekend and I ran the truck till I traded it @ 154K miles.

Transmission was stock and never touch except for fluid changes.

I agree with the first reply, I installed EZ about year ago and transmission seems to like it just fine, but I know I will require up-grade eventually--try not to hit the loud pedal at 40-45 just after over-drive kicked in... ... Like those new t/c's with three times the surface area--sure would like to not have $3-3. 5k in transmission rebuild, but of course all the builders want you to go whole hog... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... R, J. B. :(
