Looking for some feedback on these products. Anyone use either of these products??? Sounds like the Banks unit is a little more involved to install compared to the Edge EZ. Looking for a little more power with the ease of removal for warranty reasons. Although Banks claims their products don't void warranties, I don't want to find out they do void warranty when I go in for warranty service. I hear the ottomind limits the engine from gaining too high EGT's and the Edge EZ does not produce enough power to worry about EGT's. Are these statements correct???

The Banks Ottomind punctures the pump wire on the injection pump. Your warranty is then GONE for the engine and drivetrain. You can fight with the dealer, but it is not worth it in my opinion. The EZ does what they say it will, I have driven with them on. I am not crazy about the EZ, but it does work. Most places have a 30-60 day money back policy too, try one and if it is not what you want send it back. You could also borrow one to try at an event or from a member close to you.



EDIT: I have never seen a truck with an EZ that will make dangerous temps, even with DD1 injectors too. I believe that you can't burn one down with just an EZ.
 
How much power do you want? The EZ will give you about 50 to 60 HP at the rear wheels, which I think is pretty good for the money. :eek:

MrFixit, you WILL like the EZ. It may not give the most power that some other boxes can, but it takes 5 minutes to install, and 3 to take off. There are no tattletale indications to cause warrantee problems.



The difference in your truck will be very noticable, you will be able to pull a hill with a load in the next higher gear, or accelerate up the hill in top gear.



I really love my EZ.

I'd be a little leary of saying that the EZ does not allow you to get the EGT too high. I remember posts from people with bone stock HO trucks saying that they were shocked to find that their stock trucks were running REALLY hot. If it were me I would install a good pyrometer and not take any chances.
 
The EZ will give you about the same power of the Banks Ottomind. I don't believe you would have to worry too much about EGT's unless you changed injectors. The Ottomind will void your warranty where the EZ is removable and does not pierce any wires.
 
I can just say my experience with the EZ has been most gratifying. My EGT's have never been above 1210* and thats pulling hard up a 7% grade for over 6 miles. Now I have stock injectors, but from what I have read DD1's or DD2's for that matter will not "melt down" the engine. I would go with Edge, as Banks stuff is way to expensive. Locally we have a 2500 5 speed with the entire Banks set up--Turbo back half, Otto mind, exhaust, and High Ram intake--runs good, but not like the 3500 with the Edge Comp Box, HX40, & DD3's, Oh yea he's auto though:eek:



Banks kit was $2800, Edge Comp $700, DD3's $650, HX40 $850.

I have had both and I can say with a very straight face that the edge product is far superior in use and you do not poke holes in any wires. The reason I bought the EZ is that the ottomind would cause a stumble on every shift no matter if you drove easy or hard. The EZ gave more power and my EGTs are lower than with the ottomind. Now this is an older ottomind so maybe they fixed the stumble. Another thing is if you don't mind being treated like excrement call Banks with a problem:mad: , they are more than likely to tell you there is no warrenty on their products( Yes, it accually happened to not only me, but a friend with a frod just this week ). Am I unhappy with Banks? YES!

Thats what we are doing Saturday! Hey, when you install those DD3's, are you supposed to take off those pretty little red caps?:D Sure did make it hard to start, and I bet it took 5 miles of heavy flogging to get that thing to run right!!!!!:eek:
