what level do most of you run 03 's and early 04's on?what level do they come on out of the box. has anybody found a level that will improve any milage , towing or unloaded?

are the egt's managable with the 305 555 motor with air and exhaust mods only on some of the lower settings?

It is supposed to come set on level 3 (out of 4... 4 being the highest). I have yet to open mine up so I "ASSume" it;s on level 3.

I have not seen any real improvement with mileage. My unloaded mileage is just at 15 MPG city (heavy traffic and stop'n'go). I have yet to run a full tank on the highway though so I can't give you a good number there.

EGT's will climb quick... but the highest I;ve seen at WOT is about 1250*. This again is unloaded, with AFE intake, torque tube, and 4" exhaust.

I went offroading today and the EGT's were fine... it would get high(around 1200* if I kept my foot on it hard but even under moderate throttle in deep sand it rarely got over 1000*.

I run level 3, don't really have a reason why. unit came set on level 3 as mentioned in the instructions. EGT's run 600*-650* going down the road. WOT up a grade can get to upper 1200* unloaded if you keep your foot in it. MPG seemed to be alittle better, but only by . 5 doing hand calc, overhead said 2MPH better;)

I have ran level 4 for awhile... . just alittle more power, little higher temps. I have the Calif SO so that may make a difference

Hope this helps

SBashaw, does this help with the off the line performance? I also have the SO CA, and getting the thing moving sucks. Thanks. John

Open the EZ and verify that its on level 3. Mine was missing all the jumpers when I got it which makes it on level 1. On level 4, I'm getting 2 mpg (hand calced) more than before. 19+mpg avg. Temps are not a problem especially with the elbow installed and exhaust and intake. On level 4 I have pulled 10,000 pounds up 9% grades with no problem at all (except the transmission shifting way too hard). For daily driving the EGT run higher than they used to but I just cant seem to bring myself to turnig this thing down. The only thing I wish is that it was adjustable. I wish I hadn't waited so long to get the EZ.

Yes! big difference, makes it fun to drive.

With the EZ on level three, I dynoed at 284 RWHP comparred to 210 RWHP stock. that puts it alittle over a stock HO motor:D

Steve

I have the DD TTPM which is essentialy the same. I run it on 4 empty and 2 when towing. I ran it on 3 empty for a while and did not notice anything woth writing home about for MPG. When it came down to it, 4 was alot more fun with no loss in the MPG dept!

Do you have gauges?

EZ secret

My Edge has a "secret" setting of 6. Check with a good diesel power shop. They should know how to do it. I run mine on 6 all the time (95 percent solo, 5 percent hauling water - nothing heavy) and haven't seen any EGT issues.

Something interesting to add. Had my first dyno experince this weekend and I watched the EGT 's diligently.

I saw a high of 1300* on level 4 at 3100 RPM's. The truck was held at 3100 RPMs for about 5-8 seconds BUT the EGT's fell quickly after just about 2 seconds back down to 1,000*... meaning the truck was defueling. Made me fell a little better about it. Now I still watch the guages like a hawk BUT it seems there is a safety factor in the engine.

Something also interesting ... I talked to a factory rep once who told me a stock Cummins engine can't be hurt no matter how hard it's run. I wouldn't make any bets on that, but it was comforting to hear him say it.

Yeah... but another fella at our dyno event (not a TDR member) found out the hard way that with mods you MUST watch the guages... he was showing off his propane injection and new computer "programming" and blew a head gasket and consensus was maybe even burnt/broke a piston. So a stock motor may be safer... but you never know.

I run on level 3... . real nice... . what would like more info about the "secret" level 6... look out... . (after I get the guages... on back order from Geno's)... .

Oh Yea!!!! I can haul a 6 horse loaded full up Old Woman Springs at 65 no problem... ...

Remeber the circuit board is on the bottom as you look at the settings:

For anyone interested in the level five setting.

Level 1 XX: :::

level 2 X:: ::X

level 3 X:: :X:

Level 4 ::: :XX

Level 5 ::: X::

Later boxes will not work on 6 ::: XX:

See ttreibel's response below. My Edge isn't the newest one on the market. Mine has 5 factory settings, plus an additional setting that only power shops know about. Don't ask me how they set it ... don't know. It's supposed to deliver 100 additional ponies to the rear wheels and 200 lb. ft. of torque.

what are you guys paying for your Edge EZ boxes for your 600's? i got quoted $452 shipped to my door. i was wondering if this is what yall are seeing or if im getting ripped.

Go to wwwPDQperformance.com and get a quote from them... you may have to e-mail them. It was much less for my 305/555. Granted with the 60 being newer it may be more but either way I think you can do better than $452.

i have been looking around and everywhere else seems to be more around $480 plus shipping. that price is shipped to my door.

whats ballpark?

decided to put a copy of my PM's that i got from chris darnell over at http://www.4wheelcustoms.com/

his site

I tell you what. I just found it a little cheaper. I will get it to your door for $452. 95 Sound like a deal? I don't think you will find it cheaper.

second PM i got from him after i questioned his price.

I am positive it is the right product. If it will help, the part # I quoted you is EZD1000D which is for the 2004-2005 Dodge Cummins 600. I hope we have proved that we are going to be the place to go for good prices and customer service. We are glad that we have earned your business. Spread the word to your buddies. Let me know when you are ready to order.
