I just recieved my new Edge Insight CTS display system and I'm not too happy with the performance. I'm looking to see if other 1999's have had similar issues.
I opted to purchase the Insight because I already have gauges for fuel pressure, EGT, and boost but didn't want to add another gauge and probe for transmission temperature. Everything I read indicated that transmission temperature was available via the OBD II port.
I followed all the instructions from Edge including updating the CTS to the newest firmware straight out of the box. When I first attempted to connect it to the truck via the OBD II, it wouldn't read any of the installed protocols. My first call to Edge tech support resulted in them having me reconnect the Edge to my PC and internet so that the tech could download an older firmware version (2. 1 vs 2. 2).
The second attempt at connecting to the truck was a bit glitchy but it eventually used the ISO4191 protocol and finally I got analog gauge readings. But, when I scrolled through the available data points (called PID), there were very few to choose from and transmission temperature was not included!
My second call to Edge tech support resulted in the person telling me to wait two weeks before Edge comes out with another firmware revision for my truck! The tech promised that this next firmware would be better but I have to wait two weeks. #@$%!
Anyone else have this type of experience with the Edge Insight?
