Edge Insight Q's

The Insight shows 2 transmission temperature readouts. Does anybody know where the pickup points are for the readings? Which is the better one to monitor?

I've seen the readouts but never any variation in temp. I've never followed up on whether the readouts were functional. . H

Were the Temps the same either under load or empty?

The temps have never changed - starting at -40 or running loaded in 90 degree weather... So I am placing no value in the numbers!

EGT? As in pre / post turbo EGT? It is my understanding the Dodge trucks require the probe (Ford / Chevy don't) in order to get that temp. Or, at least, that's what I've read from numerous sites. If your looking at other temp's, please ignore this post

I was gonna go with two SPA dual-digital gauges to replace the two analog Westach's i have, but decided to go with the Edge Insight today because of the number of parameters it can read from the port. I can't a straight answer on the length of the cable, and whether or not I will need an extension cable if i mount it above the mirror. I see the extension cable for the Attitude, but nothing for the Insight. Anyone know the length? Will it make it thru the headliner, down the pillar, and connect without having to add an extension?

Yes all the other parameters (they are configurable) works well. I added a pre turbo EGT probe. .

Harrison, I was planning on adding a pre turbo EGT sensor. CYauch, I don't know the length of the cable. I do have Q's asked at Edge's web site but have not had a reply yet.

I hear ya. Here's the funny thing, i ordered the overhead mount with the 3ft extension cable from truckcustomizers, but didn't pay attention to the actual write up on the Related Items #@$%! I know, by bad. After noticing on the e-mail receipt it said for the Attitude, i called for verification. They weren't sure, so they put in a call to Edge. While waiting for them to call me back, i called Edge. The Edge rep said they had no plans to every make an overheard mount or extension cable for the Insight. HOWEVER, when the rep from Truck Customizer's called, he said an Edge rep told him that there wasn't a problem; they both have different part numbers, but he kept saying Evolution. Because of the discrepancy, i asked the TC rep to cancel the extension cable and overheard mount until i could get more details. Still have the Insight and Thermo on the way. To me, looks like the Insight is the same shape as the Attitude and would fit in the overhead mount. And the cord is just about 5ft (according to the Edge rep). Gonna go out and do some quick measurements.

And as for e-mailing Edge, i take the same approach for everyone. If they have a number listed, i call it rather than waiting for who knows how long to get a return e-mail

I just installed the insight with the piller mount. Nice clean look. I don't think that the

cable would be long enough to get to the mirror. Had extra for the piller mount, but would not reach the mirror. (with the piller mount, I did cut off the bottom of the original piller to get it under the dash. Looks really clean. )
