According to the manual for the Edge Insight it can read pre and post turbo temperatures without the optional egt probe. Is this correct?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Not that I know of. Mine has the optional probe.

Factory probe readings that the insight picks up are all post turbo, and all downstream behind the nOx filter and either before or after the particulate filter. Not real accurate for gauging temps around the turbocharger. Your best bet would be to pay for the optional EGT probe and mount it pre-turbo.

I am a new first time diesel truck owner and have done tons of research before buying. I want to add gauges to monitor the engine and the insight seems like a nice addition to the 6. 7. I would like to see my preturbo exhaust temps for towing and for shut down.



My question is if anybody has had warranty issues with the dealers after drilling and tapping the exhaust manifold?

I have the Edge Insight installed on my truck with the EGT probe installed in the manifold. I checked with my Dodge dealer and they said it is not a warranty issue to drill and tap the manifold for the probe. They even gave me the name of a shop who would do it cheaper than they can do it. I am very happy with my unit and depend on it all the time while towing my horse trailer or travel trailer. Side note: My dealer in Afton Wyoming survived the dealership closings. hurray!
