Juice vs Smarty
JCasper - I have both. I started with an EDGE EZ pressure box then stepped up the the EDGE Juice, then upgraded the Juice to the "HOT" version, then purchased a Smarty.
The EZ pressure box works equally well with either the Juice or the Smarty by providing the extra pressure which neither the 2004. 5 Juice or the earlier Smarty software provide. I believe Marco is nearly ready to release the rail pressure software for the Smarty's.
That said - Both the Hot Juice and the Smarty provide plenty of power and can provide a great smoke show. The Juice has the "on the fly" adjustability which is convenient and the Smarty really provides the best bottom end instant spool response, however, the Smarty can be almost too smokey for most of my in town driving, (Atlanta traffic). I usually like to load the Smarty for my excursions outside the Atlanta area and I stick with the Juice around town because of the "on the fly" adjustability. Trying to pull a load with either unit turned up makes those behind me mad. Not the best thing to do.
I can't say that I can get the Smarty and Juice to work very well together. Others have said the Smarty just confuses the Juice's programming, so I don't use them simultaneously. It may be I'm just running my rail dry.
Alternatively, once the Smarty is loaded, especially on the higher levels it does smoke fairly significantly with anything over light throttle input. I think Marco has some lower smoke beta software available but I haven't gotten around to acquire and test. I need to give Bob Wagner a call and give it a try.
The Hot Juice on the other hand works better for me right now but I still want to try the TST box with the rail pressure and r/p readout. The Juice on occasions has set a couple codes, nothing serious, just a P2146 and P2149 - low voltage to the injectors, which can be cleared with a code reader or even the Smarty. These two codes have happened to others as well, it's like the Juice gets confused sometimes because mines always performed well. I just can't justify any more expense until I get my lift pump upgraded.
Also, If you're near stock, you'll have to limit your fueling level less you risk broken parts. Anyway, I've rambled on way too long. Hope this helps somewhat.
