So, I was almost ready to pull the trigger and get a Juice w/Attitude for my 05. One of the features I really liked was it's ability to defuel when it detected transmission slippage. But, in browsing through the install/owners manual online (which I'm glad I did) I see this:
Well, that's a problem, because I have 35's and have had it recalibrated for them. I called Edge and they confirmed this will cause it to defuel when it isn't supposed to. I can understand that they would be looking at the engine speed and tire speed and if they don't match, they would assume slippage. But, it doesn't make sense that they can't work around that, because there are different sized tires from the factory, and it is calibrated for those!?
So, the only options they left me were: 1) turn off that feature of the Edge, or 2) Pay the dealer again to set my speedo back to factory. Neither option is acceptable to me.
So, first, anyone have any experience with this on Edge?
And, what else should I consider then? I'm not looking for huge horsepower, just a little more responsiveness and maybe even some MPG gains. I like the idea of the monitor so I don't have to do all the gauges. I've heard good things about Smarty from all of you and a friend of mine, but no gauges, and can't change it on the fly.
So, what do you guys like?
*IMPORTANT NOTE
If you have had your speedometer recalibrated for aftermarket sized tires, the Juice
module’s transmission slip protection and mph display will not function properly.
If you prefer to leave the speedometer recalibrated, then make sure that the
transmission slip protection is turned off to avoid improper de-fueling.
