So, I was almost ready to pull the trigger and get a Juice w/Attitude for my 05. One of the features I really liked was it's ability to defuel when it detected transmission slippage. But, in browsing through the install/owners manual online (which I'm glad I did) I see this:

*IMPORTANT NOTE

If you have had your speedometer recalibrated for aftermarket sized tires, the Juice

module’s transmission slip protection and mph display will not function properly.

If you prefer to leave the speedometer recalibrated, then make sure that the

transmission slip protection is turned off to avoid improper de-fueling.

Well, that's a problem, because I have 35's and have had it recalibrated for them. I called Edge and they confirmed this will cause it to defuel when it isn't supposed to. I can understand that they would be looking at the engine speed and tire speed and if they don't match, they would assume slippage. But, it doesn't make sense that they can't work around that, because there are different sized tires from the factory, and it is calibrated for those!?

So, the only options they left me were: 1) turn off that feature of the Edge, or 2) Pay the dealer again to set my speedo back to factory. Neither option is acceptable to me.

So, first, anyone have any experience with this on Edge?

And, what else should I consider then? I'm not looking for huge horsepower, just a little more responsiveness and maybe even some MPG gains. I like the idea of the monitor so I don't have to do all the gauges. I've heard good things about Smarty from all of you and a friend of mine, but no gauges, and can't change it on the fly.

So, what do you guys like?

If that's really all you are looking for then I'd still get the Edge and not worry about transmission slippage. With sensible driving I don't think the slippage is even an issue, I love my Edge with the shift on the fly and the guages, wouldn't be without it on my 01'

The Smarty is now adjustable with the "Power On Demand" feature. Hear lots of good things. I dont have one but maybe some day after a built transmission.

I dont understand why it wouldnt function properly since you have to program it for the proper tire size and all but if thats what they say??? Must be the case. I personally dont even have it turned on. The Edge only detects slippage during TQ lockup and you can see that in the tach. So be your own defueler... if you suspect slippage, get out of the firewall. My . 02. I love mine. Better response than a gasser as far as im concerned.

How about the new TST? I believe it comes with some kind of monitor, or "safeties". Mine's an old R37, so not sure about the new ones, but change on the fly, and four software programs... . pretty nice.

I have been very happy with my Bullydog products. I would address your concerns with them and see what they have to say

I was looking at the BullyDog PMT last night and it looks impressive. Bullydog and Quadzilla can't do the transmission slip their, but they can read transmission temp, which the Edge can't do.

I'll do some reading on the TST.

Thanks for the input so far!

yeah, apparently it could on your 01, but not on the 05. I'm thinking maybe because the stock transmission pan doesn't have anywhere for a sensor on the 05? I've got a Mag-Hytec now, and it does have a port, and I'd use that with the 2nd pyro input on the Bullydog. I guess Quadzilla uses some test port for theirs. Edge doesn't seem to allow for it.

My Edge Monitors the trans temp. Through the ECM. Didn't need to install another probe. Besides, the pan isnt the best place to monitor the trans temp. Thats cooled fluid.

learn something everyday, why would they leave a year out? makes no sense, good luck in your quest and let us know what you decide,

I'm keeping all this in my memory for when I upgrade down the road

thanks again

I should have the Bullydog PMT tomorrow, hopefully it works out good for me. It looks to be impressive, but can't find many reviews or comments from anyone on it.
